This Won’t Be Long…

…because I just finished eating supper with Sister and Barry and am now watching the Bulldogs play football. We’re winning by 21, but you probably know that already because you’ve heard Sister and me screaming like a couple of teenagers who just spied Zac Efron at the mall.

I’m going to write in great detail about the Deeper Still conference at some point in the next day or two – I just have so much to tell you. I learned so much and got me a FRESH WORD (COME ON, NOW) that hit me right between the eyes. It was an incredible two days.

Mandisa sang at the conference today, and if you have not heard her song “God Speaking,” please download it rightthissecond. It is absolutely beautiful, and it was so fun to see her back on the stage with the Living Proof praise team.

Which reminds me: Travis Cottrell is so stinkin’ talented and did a phenomenal job leading worship, as he always does.

And oh, by the way, my ORIGINAL pretend-BFF Christy Nockels was at the conference, too. She didn’t sing, and I didn’t meet her, but, you know, she was there, and just knowing that made me so happy that I had to call Emma Kate and Big Mama so that they could share in my joy.

And seriously, I thought of y’all a thousand times. It was such a sweet, humbling time of digging deep in God’s Word; I wish every single one of you could have been there. I was overcome with gratefulness for you this weekend, and I hope you know how much you bless my socks off every single day.

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. – Ephesians 3:14-19

I mean that. :) So thankful you had a wonderful weekend and that God worked in your heart and life… was praying for you. I wish I had been there. And so happy to hear that you could be with Sister on her birthday.

  17. I was also at the Conference this weekend! I just finished writing some of my own highlights on my blog and enjoyed thinking back! I can’t wait to read your thoughts! Hope you enjoyed a day of rest today–I sure needed it after that. Late nights and too much chocolate wore me out!

    Thanks for posting. Funny story…Angela and I stayed in a hotel downtown this past weekend (our house is 30 minutes from downtown). And when we were getting ready for the conference on Saturday morning, Angela realized she left her jeans at home. Dang. It was a bummer. She was going to just go without them (and wear a different and less cool pair). But I told her no…those jeans were worth the effort (I think I should get extra husband points for knowing that AND for caring). So I called my bass player, who lives even further south than us…to ask him to go by our house to get them. My sister was staying at our house (she was here for the conference)…and I called her at 7:30 to tell her that Wes was coming by to get the jeans. It was only when I heard her sleepy voice answer that I realized I was supposed to give her a wake-up call at 6:30 when we got up. Dang again. I am not a good alarm clock.

    So anyway, she hung the cool jeans on the mailbox. Wes went to the house and got them and brought them to Angela during our prayer time. And my sister made it to the conference on time. And Angela had the jeans anointing.

  20. You lucky girl to get to hear Mandisa sing God Speaking. I almost never listen to a song more than one time in a row (drives me nuts when my husband does it), but the first time I heard God Speaking I listened over and over and over. It is an awesome song and so beautiful.
