Tonight after Alex went to bed D and I sat down to watch tonight’s CMA Awards on the DVR. Sister goes almost every year because of her job, so it’s always fun to watch the show and then talk to her about everything later.
Sister and I texted back and forth a little bit at the beginning of the awards – before I was actually watching – mainly because I wanted to know who was sitting near her so that I’d have a frame of reference for trying to spot her in the audience.
Never you mind that this was probably Sister’s fifteenth CMA Awards, and I have never, ever seen her on television. Not even a single time.
Well.
D and I were watching, fast forwarding through the commercials, and texting back and forth with Sister. And at some point I looked up from my phone as the Song of the Year winners were making their acceptance speeches, and OH MY WORD WOULD YOU LOOK WHAT I SAW ON THE TV?

That’s Sister!
And her sweet friend Carrie on the left!
And I screamed when I saw them!
And then I made D pause the DVR so that I could snap their picture from many different angles because apparently I am COUNTRY COME TO TOWN.
(HEY MAW! SIS IS ON THE TV!)
(WHOOOO, DAWGIE!)
You know, it really doesn’t take much to just thrill us to pieces around here.

How cool is that? I’m jealous though….I love me some Rascal Flatts and would have LOVED to have been there!
Yeah! Sister is bonafide tv star now. You might start having to call her people. You know how obnoxious those celebrities can be.
no doubt you two are sisters! God heavens, you look alike!
Blessings,
Karla
Wow, the two of you really look alike!
How fun!!! I see you both have that unbelievably flawless skin. Tell her she looks good on tv. Or on tv to a camera to your computer to my computer.
So what did she think of Rascal Flatts’ lead singer’s voice? And Kellie Pickler’s tears?
I think that is super fun!
You should’ve seen us when my parents were in the background on the Today Show… yup, we called everyone and tried to see if someone had it on tape.
You remember videotapes, don’t ya? We used them back in the stone ages.
Way too cool!! I was watching tonight too. I’d love to hear your sister’s opinions on the evening.
Well, dang it! I was at church and missed it! It never even occurred to me to record it. Shoot!
I hope Sister’s “team” won something. ;o)
Hugs,
Diane
well all i can say is thank goodness for the dvr!
How fun is that!!! I would do the same thing if I saw my sister on TV. Although there would be no reason to and it would be a shock since it would most likely be a news related story and could have something to do with a carjacking or tornado or something terrible. So, I just hope I never see my sisters on TV. Glad you got to see yours!!!
Country has come to town!! I love it. And, yes. We would have all done the same thing.
Doesn’t that make you are a celebrity now?!
Wow. She looks like if Glenn Close and Renee Zellweger had a baby! And Carrie looks like if Penelope Cruz and Alyson Hannigan had a baby. Or maybe just everyone looks like someone today. Anyway, that IS exciting. I’m glad you took a picture!
Your picture turned out great. Your mama will want that for the scrapbook!
Y’all do look alike. So much that I think you could kidnap her next year and take her place in the audience. What a fun job!
That is the absolute coolest thing. You, Boo Mama and your dear Sister are CELEBRITIES!! in my book anyway…well, you were anyway, even before this. ha ha.
That really is the neatest. I didn’t get to watch the awards…I forgot they were on!!!
And your you and your sister do look alike! You are both so pretty :)
Wow! Ditto to what Shannon said. How exciting!!
Yeah, I would have gotten all riled up if my sister were on TV, too. Like I did that time she was actually in a movie. Even though she only had three lines. It’s like, “I KNOW her!”
Very cool!
That’s AWESOME!!
Sister is BONAFIDE.
Well, I don’t even KNOW sister, and I’m just thrilled to pieces too! It was a fun show!
What a neat thing to happen. Doesn’t that make you a celeb by association?!
What is her job? Obviously, I’m in the wrong profession–never once as a stay-at-home mom have I had the opportunity to attend a musical awards show.
It’s just IMPRESSIVE.
Is that Carrie Underwood sitting in front of your sister? Only half of her face is showing, but it looks like her :)
Wow! The awesomeness of it all is staggering! She totally fits in with the “cool people”.
I’m excited just because I read the blog of someone whose sister was on TV. How country does that make me?
It is always a blessing to see a relative on TV without the police involved.
I saw the blonde on the left in from of Sister and I thought “Oh, I didn’t know Sister was friends with Carrie Underwood.”
My bad.
(I’d have been all WHOOWEEE! too if I had seen someone I remotely knew.)
Sister is beautiful…and she looks just like you!
The CMA’s rocked last night!
I would have screamed too!
In fact, I did. I was watching the DVD’s for Beth Moore’s Believing God and I saw a blogging sister on there, whom I have never met, and I screamed out, “That’s Debra” and the ladies in my group thought I was a little nuts. Because we live in MICHIGAN. And most people know the DVD’s are usually taped in TEXAS. Then they all wanted to know how I know someone in TX and, well, trying to explain that I don’t KNOW know her, I just kind of sort of met her on the internet…um yeah, I know.
But anyway, yay for Sister, and yay for you! (And sorry about the bunny trail!)
That is so funny, I watched some of the show last night and I thought about you and your sister and how you all like, roll with that crowd. Hi to Sister!!
BTW: Shameless, random namedrop: I went to middle school and high school (in SoCal) with Gary Allen. (aka Gary Herzberg) I didn’t see him on last night but anyway…
Now Sister is going to need you to be her manager, now that she’s famous and all……
We’ve already established that Sister is a blogosphere celebrity, but goodness gracious, now she’s famous to the rest of the world as well. We are in great company, y’all.
Sister is famous!!! Which of course means you are too now!!! Whew, ya’ll look just alike now!! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!
That is great! I totally would have done the same thing! (taken a picture of the tv)
oh don’t worry, I would have screamed too.
taking a picture of the tv – that was some quick thinking there!
how fun is that?! i watched the show….in between flipping channels to watch america’s top model and a little of Oprah…no dvr here, we are in the boonies :) So, my one comment on the awards, ok, two comments, #1 they sure did let the folks accepting the awards talk a LOT and #2 where was Alan Jackson? I didn’t even hear him mentioned once. I just cried when Kelli Pickler sang and cried…for what’s its worth, I think she feels about being in Nashville, TN on the CMA AWARDS! what I feel about belonging to Jesus…I still can’t get over it :) Blessings!
Too cool!
My sister was only at a small little get together in Kansas City hosted by someone named Garth……
I would love to know what your sisters take was on Kelli Pickler. I know that it moved me to tears. Was the audience perceptive…..and supportive….or just acting like that because the camera was on…
Congrats to Sister. She looks beautiful.
You look so much alike, it’s like you were on TV. ; )
Hey BooMama,
I am so thrilled for you, you and your sister do look so alike.
I have my own little story about my 15 seconds of fame. I am a children’s library in Northern Ontario, Canada. I was thrilled to be interviewed about our summer reading program a few years ago. Well anyway, I rushed home the next night to because I wanted to watch it with my son and daughter. In my mind they would just be thrilled to have their mom on TV. Well, my son told me I said uhmm way too many times and my daughter asked me in her so sweet tone to turn the channel back to Clifford – I don’t think I have ever felt so humbled.
I have been interviewed on television and radio several times since and I keep every single time a secret. And yes, I do totally feel like I am saying uhmmm way too many times :)
Take care
Roxanne
Ooops,
BTW, I am not a children’s library I am a children’s librarian. Some days though I do feel like a big old library full of dusty books :)
Take care
Roxanne
How EXCITING! ; )
she’s pretty, too. ya’lls skin is so “flawless”. that is such a blessing, take it from a crater face :o) i am just curious, what does siste “do” exactly?
How famous am I now? Mmmhmm…
That’s so cool. I saw my brother on tv once when i was watching a basketball game. He was a trainer for the team. I can’t remember what school he went to . It slipped my mind but it’s Jerry Fallwell’s school. Any who. I was so thrilled to see him. I actually waved at the tv. LOL!
Well I bet you did scream!
My brother was in the audience of David Letterman twice and I still have it on DVR. I am so proud – hehe
Kim
That is so cool!
Isn’t it nice that we both have “famous” siblings? I’m proud for Sister! And, by the way, she is beautiful, just like you!!!
I am thrilled with you!!! Very much fun…I am grinning from ear to ear.
Love you much in Him,
holly
I’m with Megan – Glenn Close/ReneZ. I would have screamed too. Which did you do more, call everyone that you saw her or email them the picture?
She looks incredibly glamorous! I would’ve screamed, too. :)
That’s AWESOME!!! What a hoot!
I begged you to Photoshop my 104 year old self.
*applause*
And I’m laughing at Sister’s comment above. :)
That’s hilarious! Cool thing! In the same vein, I can’t tell you how many times I had to watch a paused DVR edition of a football game where my DH would point to a speck on the screen and say, “THAT’s ME!! I WAS RIGHT THERE!”
Great, hon!
We had a similar experience with my husbands cousin in a Home Depot commercial. He saw it, my back was to it, so I heard it
“You can do it, we can help!”
We freaked, called her and were thrilled for the next couple months when we say her!
Sister looks like Meryl Streep. I haven’t read the other comments but I did see the words Glenn Close and Renee Z jump out at me…I can see Renee, but not Glenn.
That is so cool! The extra cool part is she is smiling and looks to be having a nice time! My luck would be I would get the one millisecond of fame on tv and I would be picking my teeth or something!!
Hope it was a good experience for her!
That is SO exciting! I would have done the same thing. In fact, my nephew is a dancer in High School Musical 2, and I had to watch the baseball scene practically frame by frame to make sure I knew which one he was, and then made all the kids come over and look!
I would totally get excited if I saw my sister on TV. Even us people who live in Hollywood like to see our kin on TV. Very cool.
ps. She looked really really pretty.
That’s so cool! You gotta love DVRs that allow you to snap pictures at every possible angle! :)
she looks like a very young meryl streep…did her team win something? i think i am too “old” to do the christmas home tour blog cause i can’t figure out links?? do i put the pictures on my blog and then link them to WHAT??? you young people are so savvy…i guess i’ll just watch…at least i am on a blog—it took me one year to figure out how to put up a post—when i finally caught the college kids at home and begged for blog help…have a great weekend with sister!
Sister is just beautiful…….beautiful. I don’t blame you at all for being excited. I would be, too!
Darn it – I meant to Tivo it, and how cool that your sister got to be there, she looks lovely, you two look so much alike!
I would so do the same thing if my brother were on tv! Too fun!
“country come to town” Crack. Me. Up.
