You might be sad if you knew how I looked forward to tonight’s episode of The Office ALL DAY LONG.
Because make no mistake: my life is TERRIBLY EXCITING.
I was actually a little surprised by all the bittersweet in this episode, what with Michael’s excitement over a potential new girlfriend being almost completely wiped out by his conflicted sense of responsibility for another woman who doesn’t even love him.
And don’t even get me started on Jim and Pam. Because that whole thing made my heart hurt. For both of them.
Nonetheless, a few highlights:
1. “Good news. I’ve married. Tell Father.”
2. “If the devil were to explode, and evil were gone forever, what kind of party would you have?”
3. “I am downloading some N3P music for a CD mixtape.”
4. “Hazing is a fun way to show a new employee that she is not welcome or liked.”
5. “Act-TIIIIIIING!”
6. “Holly is sweet and simple, like a lady baker.”
7. “I SAID OKAY.”
8. “I LOVE PIE!”
And earlier I was going to say something about how there wasn’t near enough Andy in this episode, but never mind all that because I sort of want to kick him right now.
Thoughts, interpeeps?

Pam: “Dwight, you sound sexy”
Jim: “I’ve been working out.”
speak into the mic.
Oh, so very funny! I loved this episode.
How’s the flowerbed? ;)
the whole Kevin thing cracked me up. And I soooo wanted him to propose at the top of the ferris wheel while the fireworks went off…heartbreaking.
and the ending? sigh… more Jam (Jim and Pam), please!
um, I meant I wanted JIM to propose on the ferris wheel, not Kevin. My 7th grade grammar teacher is pleased I caught my “foe pa.”
;-)
I refuse to watch again until Pam and Jim are OFFICIAL.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
This was a very bittersweet episode. I was so loving the first 40 minutes…then it got sad and sadlike. I started to tear up a bit when Pam looked so sad…because of course Andy had to go and ruin everything! Can I kick him when you’re through?
However…one of my favorite moments, was Jim’s phone message. “Ryan, disregard that last message. I see you’ve got your hands tied.”
But, um, those last few seconds, they, were, um….awkward. For Mrs. Vance (I just loved when Bob’s employees called her that) and for the entire viewing audience.
Poor Jim and Pam.
It almost seems like they’re real people.
Wait, is that sad?
Andy’s dad in the argyle sweater was classic.
But Andy needs to have a 20-line minimum NOT RELATED TO ANGELA each show.
What a great episode!!
Lots of funny stuff.
My heart broke at the end though. Andy, get off the stage…noooooo!!! So sad.
i’m so frustrated! our power started flickering during the last 6 minutes and it was so bad that the satellite had to reset–meaning–it stopped recording.
UGH!!!
I can hardly wait! It’s not on here yet AND after that I have to wait for the hubby to get home to watch it! ARGH!
Oh my gosh. I LOVED this finale! This was more “classic” Office for me – starting with Jim’s prank on Dwight at the beginning – “this is an imposter!” – and ending with Jim’s plan getting foiled by Andy. Just good stuff.
Michael about Holly: “It was love at first see . . . with my . . . ears.”
and “I’m pretty sure she has baked on a professional level.”
OH! And JAN! At the end, I was shouting to Michael, “NO! Such a bad idea!”
“The Temp” getting arrested and the video on YouTube. Perfect.
Overall, it sets up SO many great plot possibilities for next season: the real proposal, Jan/Michael/Holly, Dwight/Angela/Andy, Kelly visiting Ryan in prison. Oh, it’s gonna be good!
So good, but now my stomach hurts because when Jim asked about fireworks, I knew he was going to propose, and I knew something awful would happen to stop it. Stupid Andy. And then Dwight’s naked back!
That Holly thinks Kevin is “special” is HI-larious. That and Michael’s, “I always thought the two would go together”!!!
I was so disappointed that Jim didn’t just ask her anyway! :( I like the addition of Holly and thought her banter with Michael was great. Jan is just evil.
Great post! Love The Office! Thanks for the great writing, adding to the show. Brain candy… such a fun break for the busy mind!
Oh, and how could I forget Mose and the raccoon!
Yo-da.
The highlight of my day was looking forward to this episode, too!! I just wanted it to be longer. (that’s what she said)
Which brings us to THAT… Michael on the ferris wheel with Holly – for once EDITING what comes out of his mouth – and NOT saying ‘that’s what she said’. So substantial, and then Jan’s pregnancy throws a wrench into what could be a real relationship for him. Arrrgghhh!!
I agree it was classic Office, with the prank, and the Kevin plot-line had us laughing out loud the entire episode.
I loved that Kevin was “special” and he was acting just totally like himself. SOO funny.
I am loving the addition of Holly to the mix too.
Already anxious for next season!
For me – it was the best, most classic Office we have had since the writer’s strike ended. I LOVED every minute of it. As a former HR person – it was hysterical. Loved the line about “Human Resources creating Monsters!” Loved it,loved it,loved it. Thanks for recaping the great lines — something to hang onto this summer.
I loved when Andy said:
“Mr. Andrew Bernard, it’s got nice ring to it”!! So funny
I LOVED Phyllis knocking Angela’s stuff off her desk. Yay Phyllis!
I also loved “That’s what she…yeah, that can be difficult” or however Michael amended it.
My DH wasn’t home last night to watch it and I am dying for him to so we can talk about it! So many possibilities! But poor Jim.
Oh, how excited I was to find out this episode was one hour long!! And I’m loving the new girl. So perfect for Michael. And Kevin… hilarious.
Steph
It was a great episode, but both my husband and I felt so sad afterward, and we don’t recall an “office” episode where we’ve felt this sad about it. Jim and Pam!? Oh, bless their hearts! And Michael walking away from what seems to be the girl for him, it was just too sad for us. Fortunately, the rest of it was hysterical!
“You cheated on me when I specifically asked you not to?”
And, my dvr missed the last second. Please somebody tell me that Phyllis found!
If Pam goes to art school and she and Jim break up I am never watching again! (until the next week).
Angela and Dwight in the closing scene?????
And Kevin as “slow”… absolutely priceless.
Tonight’s episode did not dissappoint, except, well, yeah I felt REALLY sorry for Jim and Pam.
Stupid Andy.
Kelly- She didn’t have nearly enough time. But what she had was so classic.
And I want to cry for Jam.
I thought this episode was one of the best. Maybe cause it was a full hour. The writing was excellent.
Yeah! We’re back to the “real” Office after the strike. I was so pleased that this was bona fide Office comedy. I loved it and laughed out loud the whole way through. One of my favorite parts – Toby’s desperate cry
“Does anyone have a camera here?”
Pinkmommy,
Phyllis walked in on a naked Dwight(from the waist up at least) and a fully clothed Angela making out.
Oh, dear! The very last scene with Dwight and Angela!!! Bring on next season!
I, too, looked forward to The Office all day and then was so sad by the time it was over. Andy’s character has always annoyed me – mostly because I have worked with people like him – but, after last night there is no chance for him ever to get on my good side. Poor Jim and Pam!!! Also, I thought the Kevin “he’s with a work program” thing was hilarious!!! And, Phyllis’ ability to pull off a good-bye party that rocked and Angela’s wicked and exasperated glares! Awesome!
I’m still smarting a little from the ending, or lack thereof.
But I did love all the good things mention above. And plus, Creed: “What is wrong with this woman? She’s asking about stuff that’s nobody’s business. ‘What do I do?”…What do I do here…I should have written it down. ‘Qua’ something. Quaaa, Quarr, Quab, Quall, Qwer, Quobbity! Quabbity assurance!”
Aye aye aye!
Chris and I went to bed mad last night–at Andy. And we both kept saying, “He paid for the fireworks!” The Jim and Pam story made us sad.
Arg!
We were tickled that Ryan got busted. He’s been awful lately.
Jan is a freaky girl. Yikes, Michael, stay away from her.
The party-planning storyline was funny!
I also liked Holly and Michael fixing the chair together and doing Yoda voices. :)
I guess I’m the only person who feels sad for ANDY, because (a) how sad is it that he carried a ring in his pocket for SIX YEARS!!!!!!? and (b) He was thrilled at a “sure” from Angela. I want him to find someone to love.
And I LOVED Creed not knowing what his job was, and Kevin being himself and seeming handicapped. “This is a button” had me laughing so hard!
Pinkmommy – my DVR did the same thing! Sara, thanks for clearing that up for us because it was driving me crazy! I knew the end was two people kissing and someone appeared to be naked, and then the DVR cut off. How rude! :-)
Oh, and Pinkmommy, you also mentioned my favorite quote of the night: “You cheated on me when I specifically asked you not to?” We died laughing at that one.
Can’t wait for the next season!
It was a great episode, but I am SO sad it is over until September. I will be watching the web shows in July FOR SURE!
I loved the parts with Kevin… they cracked me up!!
You are not the only one that was looking forward to it all day long. I was counting the hours. :)
Have a nice weekend.
I think I’m the only one a little sad for Andy. I mean he’s been carrying the ring around for six years! :) My favorite was Jim explaining to Michael why he shouldn’t tell Holly that he loved her, and Kevin was just plain hilarious!
Broke my heart when Jim didn’t propose!
And then my heart broke again when Michael said, “I am sort of going to be a daddy.” GAH! Stupid Jan.
Luckily there was enough funny mixed in. I’d say this was the best episode since the strike.
I am so upset that I missed it!! I hope they let it re-run or that i can watch it online.
Here, Here to all the above comments! I got to watch the whole thing all by me onesie. That makes for a fun night!
oh, but I missed my hubs. He was out of town. I meant no kiddos. Not that they watch this show…sheesh, you know what I’m saying…I’ve got to get more coffee
i hadn’t seen much of this season, but i’m so glad i tuned in last night!
at one point, after the new lady said something kind of socially-awkward, my husband looked at me and said, “she’s the female Michael!” so true!
i loved the “CD mixtape” thing.
one of my other favorite lines, “This is not a party-planning committee anymore! And I don’t want your foot money.”
Nooooo! It can’t be over. How will I live this summer?
My husband was kind of appalled at how excited I was when I realize Jim was going to propose to Pam – and then at how mad I was when stupid Andy ruined it all! Aargh!
Definitely the best episode since they came back!
oh boomama. i’ve thought and thought about how to comment. and i can’t come up with anything.
NUTHIN’.
i am so heartbroken. because jim and pam are like our bff’s. we hang out with them like all the time. right?
no. that’s my darn imagination getting in the way again.
and angela? her demeanor makes me laugh. all the time.
OK….I don’t have much to add, but that was just great…I only saw like 3/4’s of it…..*sigh* Jan….really michael? come on.
Oh we had several favorite moments.
“I do the numbers.” said by Kevin
(The part about Kevin being ‘special’ was just hilarious.)
Jim and Pam…..I am still mad about that…*sigh*.
And Michael. I can’t believe he is walking away from what could be a positive relationship?? Someone needs to kick Jan. I was so happy when she was gone.
I can’t believe I have gotten so involved in a TV show! (my dh has to leave during every episode–the show makes him so mad.I think it is because he works with people who remind him of the office!)
i told my husband at the end that i was really disappointed and sad. he laughed and told me that you couldn’t be sad after an episode of the office. michael going back to her and jim…and pam…and the ring…back in the pocket. oh, it was just too much. :)
I always tivo “the office” because it my kids are always playing the Wii and I couldn’t watch it with them in the room anyway. My friend came over this morning while I was watching (she doesn’t have tivo, bless her heart). She watched it last night but missed the part where Dwight told Holly that Kevin was “special”. She watched with a new appreciation today, for sure!
I enjoyed this episode very much. Only a few uncomfortable moments for me — unlike “the dinner party”. It’s weird that a show can make me physically uncomfortable — or maybe I’m just weird!
Here’s how sad the office is. Last week, I predicted everything that would happen on the finale. Then, it all happened. I’m not a psychic, the show is just sucking.
I was actually ok with the ending.
The entire hour I was in agony wondering what was going to ruin that proposal (I knew that something would). – Would Jim get fired? Would Pam move because of school? Would they break up? It was killing me!!!
So the fact that the proposal was simply postponed because of Andy was somewhat of a relief. My entire summer would be miserable if Jim & Pam broke up.
Justifyably, my husband is concerned about my obsession.
Holly “I am so proud of you for hiring Kevin”
Kevin ” I am so gonna b-ng Holly!” – LOL
Poor Kevin he has no idea
The whole thing with Kevin just made me laugh
Kim
The Kevin storyline had us crying. I think it’s in my top 3 storylines ever.
I’m still watching (online) and my favorite RIGHT NOW is “Captain Bruisin’ “
I was up and down about this episode. I was in agony over Jim and Pam. Kevin’s storyline is hilarious. Andy is a twit. Ryan got too big for his britches. Holly is going to be funny. Dwight, what do you think you are doing? Michael, oh poor Michael…Can’t wait until the fall to see how these storylines play out.
