Loose Ends

1) Angela’s jeans are by Juicy Couture. She bought them last year on the sale rack at a department store. So odds are that you can’t buy them anymore. But still. The picture of the jeans should, at the very least, help you to solidify some denim goals for fall.

I believe it’s very important that we solidify our denim goals.

2) The green purse is by Guess and belongs to the other Angela on Travis’ praise team (she sings “Mercy Seat”). She bought the purse at TJ Maxx. I looked on the Guess website and didn’t see it, so I’m guessing it might be tough to find, too.

So basically I’ve teased you with the jeans and the green purse. I do apologize.

3) Here’s a picture of JMom from Lots of Scotts, Melanie and me. I wanted to post it last night but I had some uploading ish-ahs.

DS

Personally, I would like to know how J looks so rested when she has TRIPLETS who are FOUR.

4) And here’s an up-close shot of Kay Arthur’s Bible.

KA

I don’t know why this fascinates me so. But you know how she always says that we need some colored pencils to study inductively? Well I’LL BE DADGUMMED if she doesn’t use colored pencils. Love that.

5) I don’t really have a #5. But I liked the idea of an odd number, so I’m improvising.

Have a great day, y’all.

  1. Hey, just happened to pop over to see the width of your blog and noticed you posted again.

So, uh, hey and thanks for the pics! I can’t believe you have a pic of her Bible. Now, did you get Beth’s number because I could really run some things by her right now.

  2. Am I a big dork because I am saving her bible as a jpg so I can blow it up and read what she wrote?

Are those her fingers with their perfectly manicured nails?

Used to be I would have been real excited to have close ups of, say, Bono’s fingers…the priorities change, thank the Lord!

Bono’s fingers still would be a little bit exciting tho.

  3. tarheelgigi says:

Thanks for getting the info. on Angela’s jeans. Now, how about finding out where she bought that darlin’ white shirt she wore with those famous jeans.

  4. This is going to sound silly, but I’ve never written in my bible–other than in the “this bible belongs to…” area.

I feel like I’d get in trouble or something!

    Is that odd?

  5. Kelley, I’ve been writing in my Bible for nearly 20 years, ever since I did one of Kay’s Precept studies. But I have a dear, godly Bible study friend who NEVER, ever makes a mark in her Bible! So, I guess it’s simply a matter of preference and not a measure of one’s spirituality! :)

  6. You all look darlin’, Darlin’. I know you had a wonderful time — wish we all could have gone. Which gives me a Photoshop idea.

    Oh, never mind.

Kelley, I couldn’t write in mine either, until I was way past grown. My People don’t write in their Bibles, but I’m the Renegade. I’ve used up several by now. Can’t study any other way.

  7. Missy’s comment cracks me up

  8. Christy says:

I’d like to echo the comment about Angela’s shirt. If you could use your connections to find out where I could get such a lovely top, I’d be ever so grateful.

  9. Hey Boomama! Just wanted to pop over and let you know about a fabulous flip flop giveaway at my blog… you have till Sunday… i think that is what i typed… it has been a day or two since then!! ha!

hope you can stop over, Love, Leigh

  10. Have you ever done any of her Bible studies?? I heard her last year at Deeper Still in Nashville and was blown so far away…..not intimidated….encouraged to know and study more….I have no idea what all the colors mean…I just underline and write and circle words. Is that ok?? :)

  11. Thank you very kindly for the blow up pic of the Bible. Youdabest.

  12. Much sadness here about the Jeans. I guess I’m on my own, then.

And considering all the comments above about Bibles and such, being sad about denim seems quite non-spiritual. ;)

  13. I tried the Precepts colored pencils thing a year or so ago, got overwhelmed by all the symbols and gave up. I think I might give it another go.

Will you still love me if I have no denim goals? (don’t answer that)

  14. Angela says:

Didn’t Kay say that she was using a different bible than usual and that she was having trouble finding the passages? Might explain the lack of coloring. Or maybe I just dreamed this…

  15. I totally need a zoom on the Bible pic. I’d love to read her words. Nosey? Normal? Not sure.
Also, Dooney has a purse out right now that’s really similar, except it’s red. It’s equally fab.
Do you think those jeans would look nearly as darlin on me as they do on Angela since I’m 5’2″? Doubt it. However, they are absolutely awesome. Juicy Couture, too. Nice touch.

  16. I LOVED those jeans!! I guess I’ll just have to admire them from afar. And thanks for the close up of Kay’s Bible. I’ve always wondered about that, too. She rocks!!
I’m thrilled for you that you got to experience these 2 awesome weekends — back-to-back!
Are you home for a while now?
    Janine

  17. Ya never know what you might find on ebay!!! Juicy Couture jeans galore!

LOVED that close up shot with Beth’s little fingers holding it open. I actually told the story to a friend tonight…bc I couldn’t just let her read it herself on your blog!

  18. So, I wasn’t really going to comment today until I saw the “Great SEX God’s Way” banner on the side of your blog! Usually I can block out the banners…but this one just sorta popped out at me! Hmmm, what does that say about me?? Anyway, I did think the jeans were rocking. Although, I am vertically challenged…I have a smallish problem not looking like an idiot in trouser jeans. (I can only hope the right pair is out there for me! I will pray about that;) )

  19. Personally, I’m more intrigued by Beth Moore’s perfectly manicured nails than I am Kay Arthur’s Bible. Hmmm. ‘Nuf said about me, I guess.

  20. Thanks for keeping us informed on the DS fashion! How about Beth’s oh-so-beautiful (pink?) jacket? :)

  21. Is it wrong that the first thing I noticed were the great nails?

I’m totally getting a manicure before the Fiesta. :)

  22. My grandparents gave me a student bible almost 20 years ago. Ugh, am I that old? My bible has been written in and highlighted. The corners of the covers are worn. I’m embarrassed to take it to church in its condition, but any other bible seems not as special.

  23. I love that you got the shot of Kay Arthur’s bible! That is great!

  24. teresa says:

So, what kind of Bible’s do Beth and Kay use? I’m just askin.
I remember about 7 years ago Beth saying that she went shopping for a new one and sat on the floor of the bookstore for a long while trying to decide. She never said which one she picked and it’s bothered me ever since.

  25. Aren’t you excited to have all these great pictures! It looks like you had a blast.

Just a little head’s up. I saw a very cute Guess green purse at Ross yesterday and didn’t pick it up. Was tempted to, but walked away. It looked just like the one in the picture. Now I see it may be worth a trip back.

  26. I love Lotsofscotts!! I love your cute shirt too. Have a Happy 4th

  27. Dear BooMama,
I just wanted to let you know that you are, in fact, quite silly. I’m a new blogger and have enjoyed your crazyness. I often say that the LORD and much laughter have saved my husband thousands of dollars in therapy.

    Baruch ADONAI!

  28. Hey BooMama..I was going through my archives and saw your comments on my early posts. I wanted to come visit you and I really enjoyed your blog. I will definately be a regular now. Hope all is well with you and your family and Happy 4th of July.

  29. Sophie, I just read your bio.

Every few months my mother-in-law makes chicken a l’orange. Walker’s grandma’s recipe, to boot. And everyone ooos and ahhhs over it and I just smile and try not to gag while I take a few obligatory bites and eat lots of side dishes and rolls. It’s just so. not. good.

I am glad to know that you understand the trauma I must periodically endure and that next time, you will be supporting me in spirit.

    love, Mis

  30. I studied under Kay Arthur for years. I started going out to Precept, which was then called Reach Out Ministries in the late 70’s. I was in junior high. Growing up in Chattanooga, I was able to attend Bible Studies in the Red Barn, which is no longer there, for years. It was a small Bible study, maybe 50 teenagers.

Then she moved into Precept and I was at the first one she did.
I remember the colored pencils… I’ll be honest with you…I DIDN’T LIKE OBSERVATION WORKSHEETS. OK, I’m not meaning to shout, just letting that emotion out. I think the first Precept I did was on Romans.

I am grateful that Kay taught me how to take apart the Bible and learn how to study it. I still use the skills that she taught me 34 years ago.

Later I moved into volunteer work out there at Precept, typing her correspondence and working at retreats..

Lots of fond memories of my Precept days.

She did love those colored pencils!!!

    Julie

  31. Thanks for the pic of Kay’s Bible. I live in her hometown and go to Precept regularly. Last time I was there, I sat right behind her as her son David was teaching and I couldn’t even pay attention for trying to get a glimpse of her Bible. I couldn’t get a clear shot ’til her cell phone started ringing and disrupted the whole class. Then I beheld it. I think the Lord did that just for me:)

  32. Well maybe she has more than one Bible and one of which is “colored up”!!! I know in our house we have many Bibles. Some we highlight, others we don’t.

And THOSE JEANS ARE HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I heart Juicy Couture. I have their perfume. *AHHHHHHHHHHH* Smells SO good! And now they have hot jeans.

  33. Hey BooMama! I am Faith’s mom and I was thrilled to finally get to “meet” the “infamous BooMama” through pictures on her blog. She was so excited to meet you while at Market in Atlanta this weekend!

I have been reading your blog for some time, but have never left a comment before now. What made me decide to write was the post about Kay Arthur’s Bible. I LOVE that you got a picture of it! I am a big fan of hers and have done numerous studies of hers in years past. My Bible is all marked up with, YES, colored pencils –as she taught us to do in our classes. I am a huge fan of writing in my Bible. I even write sermon notes in the margins of my Bible. It’s so neat to look back years later and see the date and what God was teaching me at that point in my life. I also hope that it will leave a “legacy” for my children one day. They will see certain passages that meant a lot to me and times that I prayed specific passages for them.

I use the International Inductive Study Bible (Precept Ministries) that Kay recommended years ago. I have had it since the mid ’90s. It has wide margins to write in and lots of room to put your own thoughts down. It even has instructions in the front of the BIble on “how” to mark your Bible in different colors!

Thank you so much for sharing this post. You definitely got a picture of the Bible of one of our Heroes of the Faith!
