Hewlett Packard Printer Review & Giveaway

cd028a_300

Several weeks ago I got an email asking if I’d like to try to HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner & Copier (be sure to memorize the official name because there will be a test at the end of this giveaway). Since I haven’t had a printer for about, oh, EIGHT YEARS, I quickly answered the email and said, “Yes, please.” Because I figured having a printer of my own might be a smidge more convenient than sending attachments to my husband and asking him to print them for me. Which is pretty much how I’ve run this operation from the get-go. All fancy-like, you know.

The printer arrived early last week, and while I was thrilled to try it, I wasn’t nearly as thrilled as my daddy, who happened to be visiting and COULD NOT WAIT to open the printer box. In fact, he was the one who unpacked everything and unwrapped all the manuals and whathaveyou, and I’m pretty sure that if I’d offered to give him the printer he would have done some hitchkicks in my dining room.

(Not that he’s really the hitchkicking type, you understand. But he was mighty impressed by everything the HP C6380 can do. I think it was the first time he’s ever thought this whole blogging thing just might have some merit, and that is totally fine because I know how deeply new electronics speak to the heart of every man.)

Later that night I got a chance to really put the printer to the test, and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to set up. For some reason I still expect to have to enter some MS-DOS commands when I install new software, but the HP installation was easy breezy and over in just a few minutes. Plus, it’s a wireless printer, so I didn’t even have to fool with any pesky cords. I have the printer neatly tucked away in an area where it’s pretty much out of sight (I’m not a fan of the electronic clutter), and it works like a dream.

And the next day, that sassy new printer really made a believer out of me. I realized that I’d forgotten to pick up a birthday card for a friend, and I was just about to pull out a piece of stationery and write a note when I realized WAIT! I HAVE A PRINTER NOW! I CAN MAKE A CARD!

Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?

So I went to the HP website and found a card I liked and printed it out right then and there. IT WAS A WONDER, not to mention that it was quite a bit more professional-looking than when I used to print out cards on my daddy’s dot-matrix printer when I was in high school.

We have given our HP printer a work-out this last week, and it’s been such a treat. The wireless feature is fab, and I’m so excited about scanning in old pictures (something else I’ve never been able to do because I’ve never owned a scanner before, which pretty much makes me an embarrassment to the entire internet). It probably goes without saying that I’m tickled that we now have a piece of home-office equipment that does everything we need.

(Except it doesn’t wash windows or do laundry.)

(I imagine that it will be several years before they add those particular features.)

SO, if you’d like to win an HP Photosmart C6380 printer of your very own, leave a comment on this post and tell me how this printer would make your life easier. This contest will remain open until Sunday, February 8th at 11:59 pm.

And if you’d like additional chances to win, check out the BlogHer HP giveaway round-up page.

Have fun, everybody!

  1. This printer would be great since our youngest could take our printer to college with her in the fall. Empty nest!! I will be a boohoomama.

  2. WOW! We also have the email thing going on over here because the printer that we have takes up half of our office and doesn’t even work most of the time. An update could help out in a major way with all sorts of things…like printing in color, or printing in general. Thanks!

  3. I have a very cranky printer right now that is not only cranky, but eats printer cartridges like it’s popcorn! I would love a new printer, BooMama!

  4. Pick me!! Cause it would make my life way easier to have a printer at home!

  5. About 4 months ago, my much used and abused printer went *ping* and spit out this teeny, tiny piece of plastic. It’s never quite been the same… meaning it just won’t drop the paper when it’s finished causing all kinds of wrinkles and printing problems. Hubby’s in school and I have a small business… the printer is necessary, you see. I would love to win this most fabulous of prizes! Do you need another reason? My scanner (also much used and abused) is no longer on the list to have it’s software updated and about 2 windows updates ago it completely quit talking to the computer… I so wish they would make up! ~;-)

    Thanks for the chance!

  6. I’m 38 weeks pregnant and my printer/office is upstairs. Far, far away. I NEED a wireless printer so I don’t have to haul myself and a laptop upstairs, please!

  7. My printer from college died. And in order to do couponing and lots of crafty things, I need a new printer. This one would be perfect. Thanks for the opportunity!!!

  8. my husband prints everything for me at work because we have a hoopty printer..lol

  9. So being extremely preggers and making weekly runs to Staples with the change from my kitchen drawer might not have to last any longer were this gem to arrive at my house! Here’s hoping (and dreaming, and begging??). :)

  10. I don’t have a printer at home and i am always asking my hubby to print stuff at work for me. I am sure that he would also apreciate me having a printer at home!

  11. Well, I have a printer. I have a scanner. I have a photo printer. All have cords. All came over on the Ark. Need I say more?

  12. Oh, how I need this!! We don’t have a scanner at all and don’t have a printer that works. And since I have restrictions at work there are things I’m not able to print there–coupons, in particular!

  13. Donna Wright says:

I have “tons” of pictures to scan into my software. Right now, I’m dependent on my husband to do the scanning on his computer and printer (since it is in his office). I know he’d appreciate the break! : )

  14. Terrific giveaway! With a highschooler and a college student, a dad who loves his flower pics and me who has new grandbabies…our printer is on it’s last legs (and quite obsolete)! Oh to be able to let print stuff we can actually decipher …AND wireless! I want.

  15. On the slim chance I could win this printer, it would be a great help with 2 teens and their school work. Great giveaway and thanks for the chance to win.
    Blessings

  16. Hm. This would very easily replace the printer upstairs in my office that has lost its printer cord.

  17. We have laptops. They are all used downstairs, usually. The printer is upstairs. The wireless printer, it would be handy.

And also, how that we’re Vista people, our computers don’t speak kindly to the scanner portion of our printer. Bummer.

  18. I print, scan and copy on a daily basis, so this printer would be perfect for me. I love that it’s wireless! That would save me from dragging my old printer out of the basement, finding a cord and hooking it up when I want to print something from my laptop.

    Thanks a bunch!

  19. Oh my goodness…a printer of my very own?!??!!! Usually I go to my in-laws to print anything I need, but, ya know…thats not that convenient. Then I started asking my mother (who lives 8 hours away) to print them FOR me and send them by mail. Yikes…I need a printer in a bad way! I have been looking at them, but the budget just won’t allow for one right now. So….If I win, it will be more convenient than driving across town or waiting 5-7 days for mail!

  20. A wireless printer would ease space issues at my desk.

    Thanks.

  21. I have a non-wireless black and white printer. No scanner (I would love a scanner to put up older pics!), no copier (ah, a home copier would be so nice!). No color printing…

I could make cards! And print pictures! And scan wedding pictures! And copy Very Important Documents!

(And have I mentioned that I’ve NEVER EVER EVER won any blog giveaway EVER in my life??)

  22. Oh my gosh! I could print pics of my 4 kiddos without having to upload to walgreens! That would make my life so much easier!

  23. It would make all of my kids school projects so much easier. Go MSU Bulldogs!!!

  24. I totally need this!!! Our only pinter is the $28 variety from Walmart and all it really does is Print very SLOWLY!! With all the teaching, Uppercase Living, and my husband as an artist we could really use the printer, scanner, and copier part of the machine. And, if we could upgrade when they add the windows and dishes features I would greatly appreciate it!! :) Thanks!

  25. I work from home and my color doesn’t print on our printer combo. Sure could use a new one! I miss making homemade cards saved so much money.

  26. Oh yes–it would be very nice to have one that can print photos without lines running across them!

  27. I too, use the lame printing method of sending everything to my husband at work and having him do all the printing there. And he forgets, ALOT.

  28. Just starting to try to work from home and this would be a god-send!

  29. Mary Jo Smith says:

I’d love to win this! I’m in charge of save the dates and invitations for my brother-in-law’s wedding…this would make it SO much easier!!!!

  30. I would love this printer. The wireless-ness of it sings to me. Plus, I don’t have a scanner. I always forward things to my husband at work to print for me as well. Maybe the whole economic crisis if from all of us using the printing resources of these companies. Thus, cutting into their profit margin!

Yes, free printers could save the economy!

  31. I’m going to be honest and say that I wouldn’t have to get off the couch. I can push print and then send my daughter to go fetch the goods.

  32. I’d love this! My computer isn’t hooked up to a printer and the printer we do have has been limping along for the last several years.

  33. Wireless. The magic word. How great would it be to print pics of my baby girl and send them to adoring grandparents without having to leave the house!

  34. It would make my life easier because I teach homeschool students once a week and do a lot of printing and copying for class.

  35. Oh, I am just dying to have a WIRELESS printer at home!

  36. I’m not a fan of the electronic clutter either….just got a laptop and am trying to lean off my desk. This would eliminate the dual scanner/printer I’ve got going on right now!

  37. Yes, I’d like to enter, thank you very much!
    Take care,
    Julie

  38. I would like to win.

  39. We have a printer. It jams every third page. It’s also a scanner, but it won’t scan anything other than an 8×10 piece of paper. It’s under my husband’s bedside table, for reasons that currently escape me, and anytime we want to print anything we have to carry the laptop upstairs.

This would make life so much easier. Print from wherever you are stitting in the house, and then just pick it up on the next trip upstairs. Or, we could just put it in a more accessable place. What a concept!

Thanks for the chance to win

  40. This printer would be a great tool for me to use for AWANA. I am the Commander and am always scanning, printing resources for the kids for club. Plus it would help me achieve my goal of doing the most I can while moving my body the least LOL! Thanks BooMama!

  41. I used my old printer/scanner all the time to make cards, print coupons, save hard copies of… important stuff, make coloring sheets for the kids, scrapbook, print off song sheets for church (my husband leads worship in our Sunday school class), etc. We are in the market for a new printer. Our computer crashed in December. I blogged about that traumatic experience (http://www.teachandtickle.com/2008/12/expected-stockings.html), but we shall speak of it no more. Actually, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We were able to purchase a new iMac to replace it. (GO APPLE!) The only problem is that our old Dell printer was the only Dell printer not compatible with the iMac. Stink. I guess I should check to see if this HP printer you are giving away is compatible. I guess that would have made sense to do before I entered the giveaway, huh? Okay, headed over there right now…but still submitting comment…

  42. Michelle G says:

This is GREAT!! I hope I win! Thanks!

  43. I’d like for my printer to do more than just, you know, print!

  44. I would love to have a wireless printer and also a printer that I could actually print cards at home!!

  45. You have no idea. You just have no idea!

  46. I too am enchanted by the idea of wireless and fewer cords and less clutter in my office.

    Thanks!

  47. I am a young photographer and would indeed love to win this printer for many reasons. First off, I saved and saved to buy my Canon XTi Rebel SLR camera for about a year. I also purchased 2 lenses, a tripod, and a flash. I also had to purchase a new mac laptop with the CS3 software, which put me about over the top. This amount of equipment was expensive but necessary to follow my dream of owning my own photography business. Having this printer would really help save on some costs of getting me started and really getting my name out there with ads, coupons, mini photo books of my work, etc…

Winning this would truly be a blessing.

  48. I’d be ever so grateful – we love HP printers around here and unfortunately have loved our scanner copier about to death!

  49. Our color cartridge is out of ink, so half the things we print has stuff missing. Half the time the printer sucks in more than 1 sheet of paper at a time, prints a little on each sheet of paper. I think our printer is at least 10 years old, I am just too cheap to replace it.

  50. Kelly again. (I left the lengthy comment above at 1:02 pm) I just checked the HP site and it looks like the printer is compatible with my iMac. Yippie! So… if I win the giveaway, I will happily host a giveaway on my blog to find a new home for my perfectly good (but not Mac compatible) Dell All-in-one printer/scanner.

  51. Oh, what a fabulous, cluttery-cord free day it would be to be able to print things off from my basement rather than have to walk up two flights of stairs with my 2-year old on my heels to retrieve my craft projects and church documents. I can see it now…

  52. Ooooo, I would love to have a HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner & Copier! I work at home and I’m also an avid scrapbooker. This all-in-one printer would take care of all my needs much more effiently especially that is wireless. Thanks for the chance to win!

  53. We could desperately use a new printer…a wireless one at that….We homeschool and are copying, printing stuff off and on all day….

    Jeannie

  54. I’d LOVE to win this printer as part of my family network. I’m a believer in HP Products!

  55. OOOOhhhh, I so need one of these. Our printer has been acting very squirrely lately, I think it’s only a matter of time.

  56. I could use the color printer for my scrapbook and craft projects. thanks

  57. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be wireless in the printer arena!

  58. I use my printer all of the time for my business. I could REALLY use a scanner and a copier!!!!

  59. I am a 4K teacher at a school here in the B’ham. I have a laptop which hooks up to my activboard, but everything in the room is not so conveniently located so I cannot really put a printer right near my computer. A wireless one would be so cool because I could set it in a corner (not to mention all the kiddies would think it is the coolest thing!)…and the other teachers would stop hating me for emailing them attachments of everything I need printed out!! Ok…you said comment–not essay–sorry!!

  60. I to got my first ever laptop this Christmas and would love to have a wireless printer to go with it. PLEEEWWWEEEzzzzzz MR. RNG pick my number.

  61. I could retire the dinosaur printer that my father handed down to me!! It’d make my life easier when we have to any kind of school project!!

    You rock!!

  62. could really use replacing the “free printer” offer printer that i got with my computer purchase—-and computer “crafts” for the kids would work so much better!

  63. Oh my. This is a fabulous giveaway and would get used A LOT if it came to live at my house. I telecommute from home most days and am also trying to start a little side business and this would be more than handy and helpful and life altering.

Well, OK, perhaps not life altering. But definitely life improving. :-)

    Have a great day!

  64. Wellllll….my kids are (almost) 6 & 7 and have no photo albums. In fact, they think printed pictures are like some magical prize or something. It would make their LIFE to have actual pictures around the house and not just on the ‘puter.

I can’t lie. It would make mine too!

  65. How could this not be useful! I’m home with two young-uns, my hubby is a Pastor who works at home, and right now we have one working printer (mine just died). We do not (nor have ever) have a copier or a scanner, but did, for about 4 months, have an all-in-one hand-me-down that never worked. :( Plus, it was all fuzzy when it did work for someone else, so I’m not sure how it was going to benefit us anyway… The short of it is that we have to drive for every copy we need (many) and my time in the office is so limited anyway (due to meetings and quiet time and such) that I envision a lot less printing of anything pertinent (like Bible Study material for the women I lead on Wed. mornings). The wireless feature makes this super cool, as the space it would go probably does not fit anywhere near my a computer (and besides, to add another wire we’d have to move my desk, unscrew the panel on the back and do a little two – person jig to peel back the wood and insert the cord – don’t ask). The C6380 looks awesome! Hope you’re enjoying it every second!

  66. ChristieC says:

Since we do not have a printer at home this would be wonderful to win! My daughter is always doing school projects…that I have to print the info for her at work.

  67. I would love to have this printer so I could print off great pictures of my 7 month old boy!

  68. That is awesome! Since baby #2 (or deuce as he is sometimes called) came, we have had to move our office to the dining room. Not that I don’t love tripping over cords every time I eat, but a wireless printer/scanner would make my year! Please, please, pretty please let it be me!
    Holly

  69. Oh, it’s making me chuckle how many of us depend on our husbands to print stuff out for us! :) It’s just so hard to spend money on things that mommy “needs,” you know? This printer would make my life INFINITELY easier, not only because I could take care of things w/o husband’s help, but especially because of the awesome wireless capabilities. Sometimes I can’t afford to stop mid-flow – efficiency means everything!

  70. Wireless scanner and printer…wouldn’t that be incredible? Seriously, who couldn’t use one???

However, since I just emailed my mom and told her I’d have my husband (What would we do without our hubbies?) scan Fly Lady’s “Fly Zone” list so I could email it to her (She’s afraid to download Adobe Acrobat!), it sure would be great to have my own technological wonder! AND wireless, did I mention how great it would be to have wireless?!

And of course, I think you rock too…

  71. I would like to win this printer so I can scan old pictures and relive the good ole days on my blog.

  72. Being a homeschool mom, a printer/scanner/copier would make schooling TONS easier.

  73. I need a new printer/scanner to keep up with all of my rebates that I submit. Please pick me!!

  74. I am a teacher. Period.

That should answer any questions as to why I would like to have a new printer!

    2500 copies in 18 months. That’s why!

    Thanks!

    Leigh :)

  75. I never even knew there was someone else in the world that sent stuff to their husband at work to print! This is so exciting! I have no printer, obviously, so this would be a treat!

  76. My husband–and his office–would love for me to win this so I will quit emailing everything to him to print out. It sounds awesome! Thanks!

  77. Cam Hasseltine says:

I would love to have an HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner & Copier. My husband and I looked at these as I have recently changed careers. I am currently a teacher assistant but am hopeful to have my own classroom next year. This would be a great tool for me, and right now on a part-time salary a new printer is not on the list of priorities!!!

  78. Kay Martin says:

I would love to have a new wireless printer and scanner all in one. I strongly dislike unsightly cords so I love the idea of wireless.

  79. So we are starting a church in Columbia, SC. There are 2 on staff and I being the wife of one of the pastors, get to (insert humor)handle all the bookkeeping and contact info. We are 100% on support for 2 years and OH MY WORD, would this make my life easier. Can you say goodbye co-dependency?

  80. oh, please, please, please. we really need this. :)

  81. I would like this printer because it’s totally awesome.

  82. I am a student, photographer, and resident assistant at my dorm and the printer at the computer lab is always broken! It would be nice to have this fancy fellow ( read: one that works).

  83. Make my life easier? I’m a mom, a scrapbooker, a photographer, a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday School teacher.

I might have to marry this thing.

  84. I would love to have a printer that worked so I could quit emailing everything to my husband to print at work! And I’m also working on putting all my family recipes onto the computer, so I can make a cookbook. I’m going to print them all out and put them in a binder (in those plastic page protectors so they won’t get all splattered from my messy cooking)!

  85. Here’s hoping I win!

  86. Stephanie says:

I would love this. Our current printer isn’t the best quality and my cards and things I print always look off colorwise – sigh …. Don’t know if it would make my life easier, but it would make it nicer =)

  87. We have 3 computers in the house and the only printer is hooked to my son’s computer. It sure would be nice to actually be able to print something without having to pry his nose away from the computer!

  88. I would love to win this! The wireless feature would be simply delightful!

  89. WOW! All in one and wireless! I know this printer and my laptop would make a perfect match!!

  90. Oh, goodness! I would LOVE a wireless printer as I use my laptop upstairs for most of our homeschooling work, and the printer and its tangle of cables is downstairs in the uninsulated back room. Brrr!

  91. Oh, my…I need this! I am in the “haven’t had a printer in 8 years/never owned a scanner” club, too! Winning this would rock my world!

  92. I think I am allergic to wires, so this would be a dream come TRUE! Its very fayn-ee ;o)

  93. Just think of all the crafty things I could make!

  94. i want it. ours is mashing up paper (bad for book proposals….) PICK ME, PICK ME!!!!! i know it’s random but still. PICK ME!!!!

  95. We’ve never had a great printer before. It would help tremendously with printing coupons for shopping frugally. Also, I’d love to be able to create things at home for decorating, etc.

  96. A wireless printer would be amazing! Plus, my current printer doesn’t work properly with Windows Vista, so it’s hit-or-miss as to if I can actually get it to print.

  97. We don’t even have a printer, ours died about 2 years ago and I would love to be able to print something without having to leave the house!

  98. I would love to do away with all the wires….that would clear up a huge mess by our desk!

  99. I need this…I have to email what I need printed to my husband’s computer (upstairs), go upstairs, open my email, and then print it! And, I have two small children either follow me upstair asking “what are you doing?” (the 5 year old) or cry til I come back downstairs (the 6 month old). Winning this would make my life a lot easier!!

  100. Charlotte says:

It multitasks, which I desperately need.

    Thanks!
