Hewlett Packard Printer Review & Giveaway

cd028a_300

Several weeks ago I got an email asking if I’d like to try to HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner & Copier (be sure to memorize the official name because there will be a test at the end of this giveaway). Since I haven’t had a printer for about, oh, EIGHT YEARS, I quickly answered the email and said, “Yes, please.” Because I figured having a printer of my own might be a smidge more convenient than sending attachments to my husband and asking him to print them for me. Which is pretty much how I’ve run this operation from the get-go. All fancy-like, you know.

The printer arrived early last week, and while I was thrilled to try it, I wasn’t nearly as thrilled as my daddy, who happened to be visiting and COULD NOT WAIT to open the printer box. In fact, he was the one who unpacked everything and unwrapped all the manuals and whathaveyou, and I’m pretty sure that if I’d offered to give him the printer he would have done some hitchkicks in my dining room.

(Not that he’s really the hitchkicking type, you understand. But he was mighty impressed by everything the HP C6380 can do. I think it was the first time he’s ever thought this whole blogging thing just might have some merit, and that is totally fine because I know how deeply new electronics speak to the heart of every man.)

Later that night I got a chance to really put the printer to the test, and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to set up. For some reason I still expect to have to enter some MS-DOS commands when I install new software, but the HP installation was easy breezy and over in just a few minutes. Plus, it’s a wireless printer, so I didn’t even have to fool with any pesky cords. I have the printer neatly tucked away in an area where it’s pretty much out of sight (I’m not a fan of the electronic clutter), and it works like a dream.

And the next day, that sassy new printer really made a believer out of me. I realized that I’d forgotten to pick up a birthday card for a friend, and I was just about to pull out a piece of stationery and write a note when I realized WAIT! I HAVE A PRINTER NOW! I CAN MAKE A CARD!

Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?

So I went to the HP website and found a card I liked and printed it out right then and there. IT WAS A WONDER, not to mention that it was quite a bit more professional-looking than when I used to print out cards on my daddy’s dot-matrix printer when I was in high school.

We have given our HP printer a work-out this last week, and it’s been such a treat. The wireless feature is fab, and I’m so excited about scanning in old pictures (something else I’ve never been able to do because I’ve never owned a scanner before, which pretty much makes me an embarrassment to the entire internet). It probably goes without saying that I’m tickled that we now have a piece of home-office equipment that does everything we need.

(Except it doesn’t wash windows or do laundry.)

(I imagine that it will be several years before they add those particular features.)

SO, if you’d like to win an HP Photosmart C6380 printer of your very own, leave a comment on this post and tell me how this printer would make your life easier. This contest will remain open until Sunday, February 8th at 11:59 pm.

And if you’d like additional chances to win, check out the BlogHer HP giveaway round-up page.

Have fun, everybody!

  1. Oh there’s so many things I would print–cards, pictures, work documents when I’m at home…it looks wonderful!!

  2. Well, let’s see. We have 3 PCs and 3 laptops at our house. I have a full-time job, a part-time job, and I’m in grad school. You can’t believe how we go through the ink on our printer, and every time one of the kids disconnects it to print from their computers, they neglect to hook it back up. This is definitely in the “if not a need, then a serious want” category.

  3. I would love this! I too print at work, and also scan at work, if our student assistants aren’t using the scanner for something else.

  4. This printer would make my life easier because (a) my wonderful HP that has given me so much joy for 4 years is about to die and (b) the cord to the thing that runs from my desk to the printer in my new office is causing me to nearly break my neck 20 times a day!!

Give me a printer and save a life…can it get any better than that?!?

    Blessings,
    Dori

  5. as a mom and pastor’s wife I could really use this printer to help my family and my women’s Bible study.

  6. We have begun homeschooling this year, and my sweet husband got me a lapbook to make schooling and planning easier. However, when I do research and find just the right activity for our school, I find that I have to email myself a link so that I can print it from the computer that is hooked up to the printer. I suppose that I could unhook the cords, plug them into my computer and then replace them in the desktop, but I take one look at the tangled web and give up. A wireless printer would be awesome!

  7. I would love to have this- I need a scanner!!

  8. Oh how I would love this amazing printer. Let me count the ways…

    1. I don’t have a printer.
    2. I am a college student and English major. Lots of papers.
    3. Because printing off everything at the library is no fun at all.

    : )

  9. I’d love this! I only have a printer, so I’d love to have a copier and scanner at home. I wish I could say I have some lofty business that I would use it for right away, but really the first thing I would do is scan pictures for Facebook. I would like to have the ability to print cards and to make copies myself, as opposed to sending folders of papers to my husband’s office.

  10. are you serious?? Would you actually send that overseas!? I neeeeed one!

  11. I like you have to e-mail everything I want printed. It is hugely a pain, as I am sure you understand. This would be also great as my children get older and need to do more reports for school.
Thanks for hosting an awesome giveaway.

  12. The wireless feature of his printer would make my life so much easier! A new printer would be such a treat

  13. wireless??? yes!!!

  14. I wouldn’t have to share it with my husband! Right now, I can’t get my laptop to recognize the printer we have so I’m not printing at all : (.

  15. Jessica Phillips says:

I would LOVE to have this! Wireless?! Fabulous!

  16. We got a new SLR for Christmas and I would love to print great quality pics. I also have great old photos from my Grandmother and I need to scan/copy and share with everyone!

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile! Love It!

  17. Oh, my stars! Besides getting some lingo from this century, I’m also in desparate need of a printer from this century! My husband and I have been shopping for one so I can continue my at-home business while I take care of the little ones. This would be great!

  18. Our printer is many moons old, and I think it’s giving up.

It’s an HP, and has been oh-so-wonderful to us, but it’s time to let it rest.

  19. I need a printer SOOOOOOOOO badly. We have killed the last two we have had. Correction, my children killed them. They kept dropping small toys, candies, etc into the working mechanism part and the printers just up and…died.

I promise to take better care of this one, if I win. I really need it, did I mention that?

  20. Well…I love to scrapbook and I’d love a printer to print photos at home and scan old pictures to scrapbook. Thanks Boo Mama!

  21. I NEED this!! It would come in quite handy for scanning in pictures, and making videos. I am in fact looking for a scanner. This would be AWESOME!!

  22. I’m slightly OCD and absolutely HATE all the wires everywhere. Wireless would be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

  23. Coupons, I will be printing coupons!!!! Oh yeah, and photos of the kids too .. when I am NOT printing COUPONS!!!!

    Thank you!

  24. ohh what a blessing it would be to win this printer! My husband & I are living be an extremely tight budget well because we want to buy a house this year for a our new family and at the momment I’m in school on line to become a medical coder and with this printer I could print all the pages out I need to study or I think may just help me in stead of writing it all out by hand! Then I would be able to get finished faster and finally help my husband with our financial struggles {all I do at the momment is stay at home with our almost 2 yr old and school so it would help with stress also!}

thanks for having the contest & God Bless!

  25. Would be great – as ours is currently on the fritz! :)

  26. O have mercy upon me.
First, this printer would save my knees and help me prevent arthritis. I have to go DOWNSTAIRS….(downstairs) to print things…and because this printer is WIRELESS, I could stay UPSTAIRS..thus preventing many diseases and joint problems.
PICK ME PICK ME PICK ME!!
    Kelly S. (Michigan)

  27. Oh…BooMama…thank you for this contest. Our printer that I use to conduct Sufficient Grace Ministries business is no longer working :( .
Unless you only want to print in pink, purple, or blue! Anyway, we could really use a new printer for our ministry…so I’m in!

    Thanks,
    Kelly

  28. Oh stars! This printer would save me from having to climb 3 flights of stairs. I don’t have a printer — sooooo, at least ONCE a week I have to email something TO MYSELF (from home to work) THEEEEN go to my place of business & climb the stairs up to my office to print said item. Now that I think about it, this printer MIGHT allow me to get fat. :-( Hmmmmm.

  29. Oh my goodness, I would love not to have my printer taking up space on my desk! I would also love to be able to scan things!

  30. I also send everything to my husband to print. It would be lovely to be able to print everything I need and have it immediately, as opposed to when my husband remembers to bring it home.

  31. oh I hope I win. Pick me! Pick Me! :) I have to go to my parents house to print things.

  32. Seriously – who wouldn’t want this!

    So awesome!

  33. Anything would be better than what we have right now! We’ve got the “almost-all-in-one-but-not-quite” and another very similar, and neither does a complete job! I’m sick of unhooking one, just to hook the other up, and it takes up too much space on the desk! Thanks for the opportunity!

  34. Southern Gal says:

I’d love this. My daughter and son have laptops and they have to hook up to my old printer to print things out for school. (My son just did this earlier and disconnected my mouse…) And I don’t have a scanner or copier. No going to the library to make copies! It would be such a blessing.

  35. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…..WE NEED ONE VERY BABLY.

    THANKS.

  36. This would enable me to move that old printer the kids’ computer and guard the new one for grown ups!

  37. I have zillions of picture sitting on my hard drive just waiting to be printed.

I might never have to buy a gift again if I had this printer.

  38. YES! I’d like to win one of these for my son and future daughter-in-law, who are planning their wedding–and constantly sending everything to me to print out for them! ;-)

  39. It would give me the freedom to not to have to carry my new laptop up and down the stairs while doing work on the first floor. Plus, I just bought an HP laptop and couldn’t afford a new printer to go with it.

  40. We’re about to move our desk and do a big switheroo with our stuff, this would be nice to add to the project!!

  41. ooooh then i wouldnt have to email all my stuff to myself so i could open it on a different computer and go down into the freezing cold basement to print things i need… and i could stop feeding the paper in manually one by one b/c the printer is broken! :)

  42. I would LOVE to win this! I have a boat load of pictures to scan in for a reunion, but not a good scanner to do it with. My printer is totally on the fritze so I’ve just taken to not printing anything… great solution, I know!

  43. We are in the process of adopting and we have to make LOTS of copies of documents. It would be sooooooooooo nice to have a copier here so I don’t have to leave my house for one simple copy (or more!). Thanks!

  44. would make my life easier?… Well, I could ACTUALLY print a document insted of going to Kinkos, Or print a picture, or scan a picture, or publish my blog or kiss my grandbaby, because I WOULD NOT have to run to kinkos every 5 minutes which is what I’ve been doing since my printer bought the big one at Christmas!

  45. Elisabeth says:

i’d love to win this! i love the wireless feature, & i know it’d be great to print the monogrammed notecards i make.

  46. Wonderful Gift! Pick me! Please! (:

  47. Oh please pick me, I’ll be your best friend forever!

  48. Wonderful Gift! Pick me! Pleeease!! (:

  49. I am a school teacher, so this printer would make my life a bit easier at home to do those fun little projects for my kiddies…

    Blessings

  50. As a volunteer coordinator with a non-profit organization, I do a lot of printing at home. Whether it be bios and photos of dogs for adoption or handouts for training current and new volunteers, I print out much. We have a color printer, but the toner cartridges are so expensive that I cringe whenever I need to print more than a few pages, especially if there’s color involved.

  51. I just got a laptop for Christmas and a wireless printer would be wonderful to go with it!

  52. Of course this would make life easier! I was just named a Breast Cancer 3-day Walk Ambassador and this would help promote the walk, do a little fund raising. WOO!

    Plus, I’m getting married next year, so…ya know…wedding stuff too. : )

  53. Oh, I would love to have this. To be able to print pictures of my kids and make cards and SCAN old pictures of my family and friends! Thanks Boo Mama!!!

  54. A wireless printer would rid me of an unsightly cord, but first I would have to figure out which one to unplug. I have a real mess of cords!

  55. It looks wonderful!
    Thanks!

  56. As I am quite tired of moving the one printer we have between the desk top & my lap top, I would love to have a wireless. Maybe then I could mine away!

  57. Whoa! What a great machine! Way better than the big, nearly-dead clunker I keep stored in my upstairs closet!

  58. I would love to win the printer. I too suffer from embarrassment because I can’t scan pictures either!

    Thanks!

  59. You have no idea how this would make my life easier.
I have been writing out every recipe I want to try because our printer died almost a year ago.
And anything that is wireless is priceless in my book.

  60. Let me count the ways:

It would give me freedom to be anywhere in my home.
It would mean I could be outside with the kiddos and the dogs and not have to come in to print something out.
It would mean I could do more projects for my sons school.
My printer now works when IT wants to work, if I really need something and it is acting up I wouldn’t have to send the item over to my sisters and run over to her house to print it out.
I could fax, everyone wants me to do this, I cannot with what I have now.
I could print pictures on the spot and share them with family and not have it looking like a home printing job because this one makes them turn out so nice.
It is all shiney and pretty, could I hug it?
It would help me get out of the wire jungle…I don’t dare go in there, I think there is a monster down there that twists all the wires when I am sleeping.
I could place it in another part of my home so it looks more organized, less cluttered.
Mainly it would just make my life easier and isn’t that what we all want, we want to enjoy life, not pull out our hair because once again the printer jammed or decided it didn’t want to work today.

  61. I could print the photos I’ve been hauling around in my purse on my card because I live at least 30 miles from the nearest WalMarts or other printing place!

  62. Oh, someday my prints will come.

    Let it be!

  63. Love the printer!! Sign me up for the chance to win!

  64. I am amazed that there are others who rely on their husbands to bring home print jobs. I also send him with things to copy. I would especially love this to print coupons from home…thanks!

  65. I currently send my hubby attachments at work and ask him to print them off for me. Need I say more? :)

  66. Jeannette says:

I so would like to have this printer. Right now my fianancial peace does not allow this in my budget yet!

  67. …because I’m running two home-based businesses without a scanner or decent printer. :-)

  68. I homeschool and have about worn my printer out!

  69. Can you imagine so many people in need of a new printer? Add me to the list!

  70. Wow…I use our printer every day for homeschooling, and it’s on its last leg. I’d love to win! Thanks!

  71. I take a photo every day for my 365 journal/scrapbook, this printer would make my life so much easier!

  72. My husband would be so happy if I won this. He has to print stuff for me all the time. Great Giveaway!

  73. I still email stuff to my husband at work, so he can print it and bring it home….sad, i know….

  74. I need this to scan old pictures onto facebook! :)

  75. Wow! My whole electronic station just died. Computer, printer… it all flopped the permanent flop. I’d love one of these to help in the rebuilding process. Awesome giveaway!

  76. Oh how I would love that printer. Between kids, PTO, family and a million other options, that would be a huge time saver.
    Great giveaway!

  77. Because I just need a little pick me up right now.

  78. I would love to put it with my new laptop we are going to purchase so my hubby can use it for the online class he is starting!

  79. I would LOVE a new printer/ Our old brother printer currently “runs” out of black dye after every 20 or so copies. It doesn’t really run out, but it thinks it does and we can not convince it otherwise. So, if I have to copy things during the day, I use it ever so sparingly… because $20 ink/20 copies does not equal affordable. Mostly I email it to hubby and for some reason he hates printing 75 bible verses for me at work every 2 weeks for MOPS, how selfish of him!!!

  80. It sounds like a wonderful printer with all the bells and whistles. Thanks for doing this!

  81. I so want one of these because I have tons of friends and family in different states and it would be awesome to be able to scan old pictures and things. My daughter is in college and is constantly needing a printer but my husband is (shall I say) tight with his money!!

  82. I need a good printer at home so that I could scan pictures from home instead of at work :-) How great!

  83. I’M ON MY KNEES, I’M ON MY NOSE…PRETTY PLEASE PICK ME! What an awesome giveaway! HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner & Copier! I have frames hanging on the wall in my family room with the pictures that come in the frames when you purchase the frames because I need to scan some old pictures and enlarge them plus I have to send everything to work with my husband and he just misplaced 2 very important documents…But what about your Dad?

  84. Cindy Grogan says:

The wireless does it for me! I love it!!

  85. I would love to have one because I could consolidate things on my ever-shrinking desk if one appliance did everything! Not to mention, I would no longer have to go to the church where my husband is on staff and pay to have copies made. I could make them myself!

  86. I could use a new printer. I currently cannot print in color because I am too cheap to buy another color cartridge. I would also love the scan feature. I have boxes of pictures just waiting to be scanned.

  87. My old printer just kicked the bucket. This would save me from actually having to purchase one of my own.

    I hope I win!

  88. I could use a new printer, especially since I am now using the laptop, so a wireless printer would totally make me look like some kind of computing professional. Also, the scanner would be nice, because hubby doesn’t believe I need one. But I so do!

  89. Our printer is a dinosaur. We got it free from my brother several years ago. My son has used it many times as a “road” for his cars. A new printer/scanner/copier would be FABULOUS!

  90. We have 2 printers, a scanner and a (mostly useless) sort of copier that sit on our office desk right now. An all-in-one unit would mean DE-CLUTTERING! Ahh… that sounds so lovely.

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  91. Yep, I have to wait for my hubby to come home with his laptop to be able to print to the printer sitting in his office… would love to print my coupons without having to wait on him!!

  92. I love HP printers, I just do.

  93. Julie Carlson says:

No wires? I hate wires! Also, my color printer has been broken for over a year and color sometimes comes in handy!

  94. This would make my life easier because I wouldn’t have to wait for my precious daughter to finish doing whatever it is she’s doing on MY printer! :)

  95. heather s says:

My older model is about to die . . . would LOVE to replace it with this swanky new one!!!

  96. It would make my life easier because my old Canon all in one died a heroic death last week. I am truly a fan of the all in one.
    Thanks!

  97. Our printer is old enough to be museum quality so a new printer would be divine! I also like to hide away electronics clutter so I like that it is wireless!

  98. I would love to have the printer. It would be a great help with my homeschooling.

  99. It would be great to have a wireless printer! That would fill the missing link in our wireless household!

  100. I would love a printer that is simple, easy to use and wireless! Thanks for the chance to win.
