Some News And Also Notes

– Thanks to the folks at BlogHer, I’m participating in a campaign with Crystal Light to replace two of my regular beverages with water / Crystal Light for the next three weeks. And I think y’all know what my “regular beverage” is. It starts with “Di” and ends with “ke” and has the letters “et Co” in between.

Anyway, I’m blogging about the whole experience over on my reviews page. For the next three weeks, I’ll update the page daily with the latest news on my progress.

Or as I like to call it: my detox.

– Anne Jackson is a wise, wise woman.

– I have to decided to paint my kitchen cabinets. They’re a lovely 80s two-tone (creme on the cabinet frame, white on the doors), and they’ve seen better days for sure (sidenote: I cannot seem to use the expression “better days” without singing “So take these words / and sing out loud / for everyone / is forgiven now” – just FYI). Anyway, after a couple of months of trying to decide on a color, I finally found my color at Sherwin-Williams. Which was much more enjoyable than when I left my heart in San Francisco.

(WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME?)

(DOES THE CRAZY GET WORSE WHEN YOU DRINK MORE WATER?)

Anyway, if you’ve been reading here for awhile, you know that with me, there’s no frenzy quite like a painting frenzy. So get ready, people, because I’m going to BORE YOU TO PIECES with mundane painting pictures and the accompanying mind-numbing details.

I can hardly wait!

  1. I just had a feeling it was getting to be that time of year when you were going to throw some projects out there, so I painted my daughter’s room this week. And her floor, accidentally. I made a huge error in judgement and actually tried to use the plastic protection for the furniture and floors. Before we even got the roller wet paint was spilled on the plastic and then tracked around all over the place and onto the floor, but that was okay because once I actually spilled some on the floor we hardly noticed the other spots. And the carpet out in the hall won’t ever be the same.
I don’t know about you, but I needed a full time hazmat crew behind me.
So. Did you want some help with the cabinets?

  2. Amanda says:

What COLOR? I’m about to paint my cabinets too… I’ve changed the color numerous times and may change them tomorrow as I pick up the paint… or not.

  3. I need to know the color too! We are going to paint our cabinets this summer…

  4. Hey have fun with the painting. Stay close to the bathroom though. All that water is going to change your life! haha

  5. you are so sweet my dear.
praying as you leave and grieve the diet.

  6. I think I need to do the same except replace the small, iced, non-fat, sugar free vanilla latte with water.

    : )

Good luck, my dear. YOU CAN DO IT!

  7. Yes. The water does increase the crazy. You’ve met me. I drink water (along with too much Diet Sunkist, but oh well it’s orange. Doesn’t that count as a fruit?)

I’ve recently fallen for Sugar free Black Cherry Jones Soda & Diet Sunkist sparkling Lemonade… that’s some great stuff. Apparently, I’m in some sort of fake fruity drink stage.

But back to the reason for the comment. Love me some Anne Jackson. I find more & more of my posts have this statement:
    Check out what Anne wrote…or
Anne has some great thoughts …
Maybe I should just create a blog titled ‘Go Read Anne Jackson’s Stuff.’

Off to enjoy some more of my vaccation.

Re: the increase in the crazy, see comments above.

  8. Di. ke. et Co.
    I can’t figure it out. ???

  9. Two words: PAINT SPRAYER. I painted our cabinets over the Christmas break (terrible timing). They are a beautiful shade of black now, but the paint sprayer sped the job up quite a bit.

  10. I am painting too – but not cabinets. I did that once, and whoo boy, I will NEVER do it again.

Good to hear you’ll be drinking less artificially-sweetened diet Coke. I think the “safe” limit is one per day. Water is so good for you!! Pour it over ice and drink it with a straw ;). Love your blog.

  11. It’s not the increase in water that casues crazy, it’s the decrease in Diet Coke. God bless you for the next three weeks, and keep us posted. If it turns out good for you, then I want you to teach me to be like you. I can’t seem to let go of the DC.
    Happy painting!

  12. I keep thinking about painting my kitchen cabinets. But every time I think about all that work I decide I can live with the current decor. :)

  13. Oh Sophie, you could NEV EVA bore us!! ;) You make everything fun so I can’t wait to hear all your funny details and see all your pictures!!

  14. Oh sweet Jesus, good luck with that whole detox thing. I love my Co. ke. But the Die(t) part doesn’t touch these lips (just my backside apparently). We will hold an intervention for you if need be. Frankly, I would miss “the burn” so much I would fall off the bandwagon by noon.

I painted my kitchen cabinets about 5 years ago ~ that is an undertaking my friend. Are you SURE you wanna do this without “the burn”?? I know. I am such an encouragement. Good Luck!!!

  15. Don’t forget to use “Cabinet Paint”. It makes a huge difference come “peelin’ time”

  16. It’s not the crazy, it’s the full night’s sleep that gets you when you drop the caffeine. I believe they call that a “moment of clarity.”

  17. Just one recommendation: Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade. It’s awesome, and maybe it’ll ease the pain.

  18. I am painting too! But the bathroom. But I am taking pictures and planning on sharing with everyone too.

I have way to much crazy to attempt a diet coke replacement. They would have to lock me up.

  19. You crack me up.
    ‘Nuff said.

  20. I was wanting to know what color too….looks like I’m not the only one!! lol Hopefully this will motivate me to finish my back porch! I can’t wait to see pictures!

  21. Skip the crystal lite sister and just do the water! That stuff is chemical poison! Then again, so is di ke et co.

  22. I can’t wait to see your kitchen cabinets. I desperately want to do something to mine and have been using “we might move” as an excuse…for three years.

  23. What color? We painted our cabinets Sherwin Williams Standish White. I matched it exactly to my friend’s brand new cabinets that had that rusticy look. It is nice and does not show dirt (much)

  24. Rutheee says:

Um colour me confused but is there an easier way to follow you on the C.L. challenge than finding this post? I may have been spoiled by all of your fancy widgets and whathaveyoualls in the past.

My big withdrawal would happen if I cut out the aspartame all together, I swear I am as addicted to it as some people are to caffeine. I don’t believe all the boogy man horrors about aspartame, and I see that some of the C.L. products now use a Splenda type sweetener so that’s interesting. Thanks for doing this pioneer work for us!

  25. You really need to try the Natural Raspberry Peach – it’s one of the LiveActive CL, and SO yummy! I look forward to it every day. Of course, I mix one little packet in my 1 L Nalgene bottle, but it SO doesn’t taste watered down to me.
