A List Is The Only Thing That Will Do

1. Earlier today I posted a new $100 Visa gift card giveaway as part of a Reebok Share Your Story campaign. Just follow the link to enter.

2. Remember the painting I showed you Monday? The one that puts a huge smile on my face every single time I walk past it?

Well, the artist’s name is Linda Dunn, and she has a website. Her story is so touching, and you can see samples of her work on the site (most of the bigger pieces are on pages 6, 7 and 8 of the gallery).

3. Some of y’all know that I can be a little obsessive in my quest to find the absolute best drugstore mascara. I daresay that I’m relentless in that quest. And I’m happy to tell you that there’s a great new option on the shelves. I bought it last week after seeing some commercials for it, and I love it. The brush is really unique, and because the brush doesn’t hold a ton of mascara, fine eyelashes (like mine) don’t get all clumpy on the first coat. Keep in mind that I’m after length and definition, not volume, so if you like a volumizing mascara, this one probably won’t be your best option.

4. I shared this on Twitter yesterday, so forgive the redundancy if you saw it there, but yesterday I made the most exciting discovery.

It’s a Sharpie pen…WITH A GRIP.

WITH A GRIP!!!

It’s much more substantial than the original Sharpie pen, and oh, I do enjoy it. In fact, I’ve been making up reasons to write ever since I bought them. Plus, the desk calendar that I use has glossy paper, and these pens are PERFECTION on glossy paper. If you happen to be into that sort of thing, of course.

5. I don’t actually have a fifth thing to tell you about. But I like odd-numbered lists. So how about a random picture from my phone?

So. Sometimes we cover up our dog with a nice fluffy towel.

There you have it.

Clearly my work here is done.

  1. You’re right in that those Sharpie pens are divine. I liked the old ones, but when I found these I thought I’d died and gone to some sort of felt-tip heaven.

  2. Clearly I must buy something glossy to write upon! Immediately!

  3. Oh I love the original Sharpie pens but wished they were a bit more substantial. This is just in time for filling out my 2011 glossy papered calendars!

I’m a long-time reader but have never commented. Had some exciting news for you! The quarterback from our little town here in Louisiana has left for Starkville! He is a precious boy and a fabulous QB so I hope you enjoy him. LSU tried to steal him at the last minute, but he is a man of his word and honored his verbal commitment to MSU. Dak Prescott is a name you will learn to LOVE!!
Ok, totally random but didn’t know where else to comment!

  5. I bought the original sharpie pens after your “review” from last year. Not happy. The cap kept falling off in my purse. Luckily, I carried a dark purse. :)

So, I’ll give the new ones a try. They DO look better!

  6. I love Sharpies! I’ve never heard of Sharpie pens, though. Maybe one of these days, when I feel like I need to replenish my overabundant supply of pens, I will try them out. :-)

  7. I’m with Tara…I bought the original Sharpie pen on your recommendation but am utterly THRILLED that there is a second generation of Sharpie pens!! Oh, the happy…

  8. Love those Sharpie pens. And the dog picture. I also appreciate lists ending in odd numbers so Thumbs Up for that!

  9. Thanks for sharing the website for Linda Dunn’s paintings…..they are so inspiring! I may just order one for myself :)

  10. Love your dog with a towel. Almost every winter morning I make a “puppy burrito” with my Chloe. She lies down in the middle of a baby blanket and I wrap the edges around her. Believe it or not she stays in her burrito through my shower / getting dressed / makeup routine!

  11. I’m a long time reader, but this is my first comment. I tried that mascara and I liked it, but do you notice that the scent has somewhat of an odd quality to it? Each time I use it, I think, “Does this mascara smell funny?” I also really like The Falsies by Maybelline, although it is volumizing.

  12. Ahhhh…the new Sharpie and drugstore makeup…my long lost sister! Just discovered your blog and love it!
    Kate

  13. We did that with our dogs too. Only I would throw the blankets in the dryer first. That greyhound just didn’t like Indiana winter nights.

  14. Your list is great today…our doggie, too, likes a towel, especially one just out of the dryer :)

  15. I totally cover my cats with blankies, too. It’s insane, really. ;-)
I am going to try that mascara. As you know, I am still looking for that special replacement for my beloved Max Factor.

  16. I LOVED the website with the artist who pained your picture. Her story is mine except I don’t paint. Yet.
And Sharpies with grips? We ask so little out of life to make us full of The Happy! As a teacher, this excites me as much as when I discovered SUPER sticky Post-It notes.

  17. A sharpie pen????? Heaven.

  18. Okay, such a small world. I went to highschool with Linda Dunn’s son. He and his wife (who also has an amazing story) are in our SS class. Our kids are the same age, etc…. So cool.

  19. SHARPIES!!!! I love them. A grip? that’s just heaven.

  20. I love Sharpie pens too. I am a nurse and for some reason, as a collective group, we seem to be pen-obsessed. Well, when at work, a pen with a cap is not always so handy. Have you seen the Sharpie pens that are click-pens? They are more substantial and have a grip. And are retractable with no pen top/cap to lose. Check them out here: http://www.sharpie.com/enUS/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=SharpiePenRetractableFinePoint(Sharpie%20Catalog)

  21. I’ve been known to be a skim reader in my time so I was skimming this post before I actually looked at every word. So I see #4 talking about mascara and then below that I see a picture of new Sharpies and I’m thinking “Girl done lost her mind and now she’s using Sharpies for mascara.” And then I read all the words and realize I need some sweet tea to jump start my brain.
