Just Checking In

Several things.

1. Haley and Casey’s duet on the AI results show last night was the best moment on the show all season.

2. Seriously.

3. The results show is also much-improved since they moved away from total dependence on the choreographed-number-where-everyone-is-trying-to-act-enthused-about-some-really-old-song tradition.

4. I’m “felling” much “beter” now.

5. I attribute my recovery to yesterday’s timely steroid shot at the doctor’s office as well as a fresh prescription for Avelox.

6. Because apparently my sinuses and tonsils got together and decided that April is a MIGHTY FINE TIME for rebellion.

7. And also infection.

8. In other news, the weather is really bad in this part of the country this afternoon.

9. Reallllly bad.

10. And when the weather is realllllly bad, you realllllly depend on your local weatherpeople.

11. Which is why meterologist James Spann is my best friend in the world right now.

12. Even though he has no idea who I am.

13. As a sidenote, I feel the need to tell you that I currently have a terrible case of the hiccups.

15. They’re the fast, loud variety.

16. I’ll be honest: I prefer the slower, quieter hiccups.

17. Because then the hiccups aren’t quite as noticeable to others.

18. But these hiccups?

19. Well, let’s just say that someone about four houses down probably just stopped whatever he/she was doing and said, “WHO HAS THE HICCUPS?”

20. Okay. I have to focus on the weather now.

21. And hiccup.

22. Apparently I have to hiccup A LOT.

23. But mostly focus on the weather.

24. Hope y’all have a great weekend.

25. And stay safe, everybody.

  1. Feel better, Friend (can I call you Friend? Because seriously I feel like I ‘literally’ know you ;) )
And stay safe. It’s yucky here today too, but no tornado’s -PTL!

And, I taught my kids that Seinfeld joke for when they sneeze -“You’re so good lookin'” Maybe that’ll make the hiccups more tolerable as well.

  2. BM – oh my, perhaps your initials are not the best way to go…
Anyhoo- glad you are on the mend. My best advice for hiccups? Try to concentrate real hard and guess when the next one is coming- always works for me.

  3. Susan In Indiana says:

Don’t hiccups mean the barometric pressure is changing? And isn’t sugar supposed to help?? :-)

  4. Yep, they were amazing. I really loved the Scotty and Lauren duet also. Can’t believe Paul went before Stefano or Choir boy (eh, James?). But maybe I was overly partial to that adorable smile……
    Feel better, Boo.

  5. We’ve been giving the standardized tests this week in our county and today was the last day. We were about half-way through when one of my second graders got a terrible case of the hiccups, much like yours. Fast and loud. She would hiccup about every third question just as she was bubbling in her answer, which would make her pencil jump, causing “stray” marks – a no-no. She wore out an eraser, bless it.

Anyhoo, I hope you’re feeling much better soon.

  6. Amy from Austin, TX says:

BooMama! I just snorted Dr. Pepper up my nose from laughing! You crack me up! Hope you fell beter soon! And have a great weekend! :)

  7. I, too, liked the small group of live singers format. I tend to get pretty bored with the results show, but this seemed to liven it up for me.

I had hiccups today as well, the bad kind–meaning the ones that show up while I’m stuffing my face with food. So, there’s always the “choking hazard” that comes with those hiccups but did that stop me from eating? Not one bit.

  8. My husband went crazy when he saw that duet from his two favorite singers. He kept saying, “See? See? I told you they would be awesome together! I would so buy their album right now!!!” It really was a great moment. They just need to get rid of everyone else and just let them sing like until May.

  9. 1) I agree. I am so on the Haley bandwagon now. I’ve been on the Casey Wagon all along but she just got trailer-hitched for a ride. My, my. Where do I buy that album?

Glad to know you’re felling beter. Baby boy love does that.

Keep your head down and your hiccups.

  10. Hii! I am new to your blog, sorry about the weather…

I won’t mention what it was like in San Diego today, just to preserve your feelings, since that’s what new friends do, right ;)

    I like your blog.

My son called them “hupcakes” and somehow they were never as annoying once they got that name. Hope yours are long gone.

    A Prayer From Jesus

Jesus I brought this prayer to your people and they rejected it. So I added a comment on the importance of this prayer and your plan of Salvation, again no responses. Finally with fire and brimstone, mentioned their destination, it was as if they could not even hear.

Jesus am I to be a profit as unto Jeremiah or like unto Jonah. I fell like Jonah, no matter what I want to do, You all ways command me to do this small task, deliver Your prayer. Except the results are as unto Jermiah. When not one obeyed when You said, they will find safety out of the city.

Jesus, you created me as neither but one of power, in Jesus NAME. Devil in the NAME of JESUS I bind you in Jesus name. Release your hold on those who will be called, son’s of Jesus. I command you in JESUS NAME to be gone from all who read this post, in Jesus Name. For the glory is yours alone Jesus. I lift your Name up in Praise now, Lord Jesus. Open my eyes in Jesus Name and let me receive from You, this very hour in JESUS NAME.

    – A PRAYER FROM JESUS –

This prayer is from Jesus that we may hear from Him, that He may speak to our hearts. It only consist of three simple steps.

1, We need to read one scripture. This will focus us in the word that brings everlasting life.

2, Since this prayer is from Jesus we need to direct our prayer to Him personally. Too often Christian focuses they’re prayer’s to G_D or Father. Scripture proclaims, that Jesus should be the focus of our prayer.

3, The simplest part of this Prayer is to ask Jesus one question. Please, all that is required for this question is that it should be simple. Let Jesus Himself finish the question when He gives you that understanding through this prayer.

    The PRAYER

    A) The scripture that is the focus of this prayer is “ACTS 2:38”. It’s not necessary to do any study into this scripture. Jesus will give you the understanding that will resonate in your heart. Just read Acts 2:38, keep it in your heart and take this one scripture to prayer

    B) The most important part of this prayer is that we need to direct our prayer directly to Jesus. If you normally would say Father in your prayer, change your focus from the Father to Jesus, by lifting Jesus name up every time you would normally use Father in your prayer.

    C) Maybe the hardest part of this prayer is the question that we need to ask Jesus. For man is always trying to understand the question, instead of listening to the answer. The simplest question is all that is required.
    Simply ask Jesus, ‘WHY’?

    For those who are obedient

    WHY did Tom confuse me?

  14. A friend of mine taught me “The Hiccup Trick” about a year or so ago and I swear, it works EVERY TIME. It is amazing!

Fill a cup with water, place a napkin/towel (I use a Viva paper towel) over the cup, then drink from the cup through the paper towel. Your hiccup will be gone after the first sip. No lie.

I have NO CLUE how this works, but it does. My girls love doing the hiccup trick!

I hope it cures your next bout of hiccups!

  15. Got my steroid shot yesterday and a host of meds, so I’m on my way to recovery too. But oh my at the SICKNESS! I felt so bad last night that I went to bed while James was still broadcasting about straight line winds and rotation.
    glad you’re feeling better, girl!!

  16. Hope you made it through the storms OK- they finally hit GA last night but were not NEARLY as bad as you guys had! My family in North Alabama said there were trees down! UGGGH!

  17. Ahhhh…. James Spann. My weatherman crush.
We lived in the B’ham area for almost 10 years, and I quickly fell in love with the James Spann!
As I was watching our scary weather forecast (NC) this morning, I fondly remembered James Spann… and wished he was OUR weatherman!
    Hope you feel better soon!

  18. Tried and true hiccup cure, no lie – peanut butter. 1/2 tsp to a whole tsp. Creamy peanut butter. Something about the texture I think. I think my mama found this in Good Houskeeping, McCall’s type magazine when I was a kid back in the 80s. We’ve all used it ever since.
