Mama’s Favorite Expressions: The Free Printable

All righty. Sister has taken the Mother’s Day bookmark DRAWED ‘ER UP real pretty-like (I’m not sure what just came over me with all that “drawed ‘er up” business). These are the same favorite expressions that we’ve heard Mama use over the years – just in 8.5 x 11 form. Feel free to print at will. Or if printing isn’t your thing, then PINTEREST IT UP, MY FRIENDS.

(I’m starting to think that three days without blogging – and with a lot of envelope-stuffing and bookplate-signing and no small degree of tornado-watching – has started to affect my brain.)

(I do apologize.)

But speaking of signing bookplates: I’m mailing all the bookmark / bookplate stuff tomorrow. Tonight I just have to finish up the last little bit and then put on the return address labels because FANCY.

Just click on the link below, and it’ll take you to a separate page with the full-sized file that you can print or pin or whathaveyou. Hope y’all enjoy it – and thanks, Sister, for making it so fun!

Oh Sophie every time you talk about signing all those bookplates, stuffing etc.
I am just overcome with regret that I’m not close enough just pull up a chair
And lend you a hand! Please know how appreciative we all are of your generousity.😇
    Hugs & Blessings! Karen

  2. Love, love, love it!!!! Thanks so much!

  3. Oh, Sophie! I love this! Tell sister thank you! I love the fonts and I love the artwork. Thank you ever so much!

  4. Oh girl, this is just wonderful!! And yes, I always feel better with a little lipstick on.

  5. Thank you, Sophie! This put such a smile on my face. It brings back sweet memories of my own Mama. She to used to say, “I swanee.” :)

  6. My mother would have added, “I can’t believe you’re going to wear THOSE shoes with THAT bag!”

  7. debbie lynn says:

Thank you so much, I just love it. Hope your weather stays safe.

  8. Oh, thank you! The only one I’d add from my own mama is, “Pretty is as pretty does.”

  9. I can hear my own mama and grandmama saying these things. Thanks for sharing this!

  10. Karen Ward says:

Love this so much and it will look perfect in a frame! Thank you, Sophie!!

  11. Melissa says:

Love this!!! Thank you so much!!! You are truly a blessing!

  12. Please tell this Oklahoma girl what “I Swanee” means?! Thank you

    • “I Swanee” is a Southern term used in place of “I Swear”. Pronouced SWAN-ee. :-)

  13. Kristen says:

It turned out beautiful! Love it! I want to print it out and frame it for my mom. If I could add a saying of hers from when I was little it would be “Sometimes it hurts to be beautiful.” :) She would say this as she was pulling my hair so tight into a ponytail, french braid, etc and literally killing my head! Haha!

  14. Well, I swanee, if I didn’t forget about I swanee!!!!!
    LOVE the memory.

  15. Beautiful! Now where can I purchase a set of notecards? :)

  16. Debbie from Texas says:

Thanks, I just love this! My mama loved it too, I made her a copy to take to her ladies Sunday school luncheon, all the little ladies really enjoyed it! Mama was tickled pink to be able to share with her class.

  17. Trish says:

Thank you so much for the signed bookplate and bookmark. Mine arrived today (5/3). You are a dear to have gifted these to your readers and to have spent time signing them. I feel so special!

  18. Donna says:

I just finished reading A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet. I had a lot of good laughs and a few good cries, too. The cowbell story really got me because I’m a UGA fan and I never really understood the rivalry between UGA and GATech until I read your story. It hit the nail right on the head. Thank you for clearing it up for me. It’s just the same as Ole Miss and MSU.
Oh, and that whole don’t make a god out of football thing? You hurt my toes a bit with that one. You keep on writing. Your book was a great encouragement to me.

  19. Marian says:

Just got mine in today’s mail. Thank you ever so much for your kindness and generosity, not just the cost of mailing but your TIME, my goodness, what a precious commodity. Praying God returns the blessing to you and multiplies it.

  20. Thanks Boo Mama for this! I love it!
And I loved your book too!

  21. I love the bookmark and bookplate – so many old sayings, it brings back a lot of great memories. I requested two sets for the books I’m giving – and they were both done perfectly! Thanks so much for the time you have given to your readers – can’t wait for your next book. I hope YOU have a great Mother’s Day too.

  22. Miss Ann says:
