The Big Boo Cast, Episode 49

bigboographic

Well, if your idea of a good time is hearing Melanie and me talk about how we can barely muster the will to leave the house this summer, then this podcast is for you!

And really, we are leaving the house. We would just not choose to leave the house, necessarily, if we weren’t responsible for the care and socialization of some very active pre-teens.

We also talk about how we met (I thought most people who read our blogs knew that story already, but I’m always happy to share it), a video thing that we’re doing with Christy Nockels and my resulting hair insecurities, the holy re-do of Melanie getting to spend time with Christy and her hair, and the very exciting possibility of Melanie making a guest appearance on John Tesh’s radio show.

I also have some disappointing Sheerlume news. I just want to prepare you for that in advance.

We also discuss our favorite summer candles and answer a few more questions from y’all, too.

You can click here to listen. Or here. You can even listen right here on the blog.

Or, as always, you can subscribe on iTunes if you’re feeling particularly fancy.

Just FYI – here’s where you can get more info on the products / places we mention (these aren’t affiliate links – just regular ole links):

dotMOM with worship leader Christy Nockels
Christy Nockels’ beautiful new CD
The unfortunate skinny jeans incident
Voluspa Goji Tarocco Orange candle
Gap v-neck linen t-shirts

Enjoy, y’all.

  1. FYI – the linen pants from Old Navy that you’ve talked about before are on sale today for $12 in store and online!!! :)

  2. oh yay! I am driving to Raleigh today and needed something to listen to while I am on the road. Love y’all!

  3. Katie C. says:

RE your Christy Nockels hair dilemma: Could you make an appointment at a dry bar (where they wash and blow dry/style your hair for you) for right before you have to be at the shoot? This might help you put your best follicle forward.

    • This could be fraught with peril though. I had a Dry bar experience that I would like to forget. Let’s just say I was NOT going to the prom in the 80’s like my Dry bar hair stylist seemed to think…

  4. Abby Lee says:

White chocolate bread pudding from chucks is AMAZING!!!

  5. I listened to your podcast today and I laughed out loud several times! My husband walked in and I told him what I was listening too. I told him if I were around the two of you very long at all I would be talking with your accents, I could feel it digging into my soul. I pick up on accents so easily. Loved it….. Looking forward to your blog. I have followed Big Mama for quite awhile. Thank you.

  6. So, did you light a cigarette during this? Or was that a candle? Just asking for a friend…

  7. While listening to you and Melanie talk about liking to stay at home, I remembered this quote from Jane Austen: “There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.” When I saw it in its pretty blue and white flowered frame in a shop, I knew I had to have it since it describes my feelings so well.

  8. Hey Sophie!
Love your blog and your podcasts!
I am pretty sure after reading your books that we are related somehow! Lol

  9. I’m with you…Sheerlume is strong! I use just enough to rub in. You definitely can’t slather it on and smell it all day.

  10. Jess Mcdonald says:

This is the summer of the Big Boo podcast for me. I am loving it. I recently joined a gym and my gracious husband is sacrificing his lunch break most days so that I can escape from my lovely toddler daughters for about an hour. I may not lose any weight, but I am getting stronger and my heart is so blessed by getting to eavesdrop on you and Melanie’s effortless friendship. I will always laugh out loud at least once while I’m working out and the other people think I’m crazy in sure, but I do not care. Thanks for doing your podcast!
