The Big Boo Cast, Episode 57

First of all, I need to tell you that I mention in the podcast that there’s going to be new theme music, but I didn’t use the new theme music because I couldn’t make it be anything other than SCREAMING LOUD and I wanted to make it fade out a little bit but ultimately lacked the will and/or determination and/or technical expertise. I did, however, add it to the very end of the podcast (IT’S VERY LOUD), so be sure to let us know what you think. We’re a little tired of our evening newscast music. Just trying to switch things up a bit.

Second of all, I recognize that we’re a little rusty in this podcast because it’s been a while, but that didn’t really do anything at all to diminish our enjoyment of the process.

Third of all, Melanie’s had to bid farewell to her 2007 Logitech microphone about 45 minutes into the podcast. RIP, old microphone. RIP.

You can click here to listen. Or here. You can even listen right here on the blog.

Or, as always, you can subscribe on iTunes if you’re feeling particularly fancy.

Just FYI – here’s where you can get more info on the products / places we mention (these aren’t affiliate links – just regular ole links):

– Here’s the recipe Melanie mentions:

Melanie’s Chicken & Wild Rice

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 soup can milk
1 box Uncle Ben’s long grain wild rice
1 pack chicken breasts, (or legs or thighs)

Preheat oven to 350. Blend soup and milk with rice and rice seasoning packet. Pour into baking dish. Arrange chicken on top. Cover with foil and bake 1 hour. Uncover. Bake 15 more minutes.

(Note from Mel: I usually double this recipe. I’ve also found adding a packet of Lipton Golden Onion soup mix to the rice mixture is a crowd pleaser.)

  1. Ladies!! I tried to convince myself that I didn’t miss you two during your absence. But I am listening right now and I’m so happy and I DID miss you! Melanie saying that Shipt is like having a wife is the truest thing I’ve ever heard.

  2. Very excited to find a new podcast this morning! I can’t wait to get on the bus to listen. Thanks for making my day!!

  3. Love the new music! I feel like puttin’ on my top hat and tails and tapping a few bars!

And speaking of makeup color names, did you see the other names for the Illuminator? Can you imagine walking up to the counter and saying, “I’ll have the O_______m Illuminator?” No, thank you.

Totally agree about the OJ thing. It is awesome and if John Travolta doesn’t win some kind of award for this, there is no justice, no peace. He and David Schwimmer (how on earth do you spell his name, Friend?) are amazing!

And I’m thinking we need to have a “Downton Abbey” wrap up podcast a few days after the last one airs (give us all time to catch up). I sobbed through the show Sunday night (Thomas! George! Edith! Mary?!) partly because of the story line and partly because it’s almost over. Somebody needs to remind me that these people are fictional!

And finally, when will your tour schedule be published? I don’t live in the South, per se, so I need to make travel plans. Seriously. My friend from Wichita and I are going to meet up at one of your bus stops and we. can’t. wait.

  4. Shari Oren says:

very excited to notice a new podcast today when I went to update my list!!!

  5. Love the new music!

  6. Ann in Maryland says:

Thank you so much for the new podcast! I love listening in on your funny conversations! I’m glad to hear Hazel is back home, snuggling with her people, running off with shoes and barking at the grocery delivery person. She’s doing all her jobs!

Loved the music at the end too.

  7. Kelly Temple says:

I was so excited to listen to the new podcast! What is the name of the Dr. Gross pads? I noticed several options online.

So funny you mentioned the derogatory makeup names – I was just talking about this with a friend. It targets our young girls…it is a bit ridiculous!

As always, the podcast was awesome…please don’t wait too long to record another one. Ya’ll make my ride to work a joy!!!

  8. Always a treat to listen to a new BigBoo podcast. I stopped by Sephora today and got a sample of NARS illuminator. Very excited to try it! And Shipt–well, I think they should use “you got yourself a wife” as their tagline. I have used the Walmart pick up service but delivery to my door. . .I can’t tell you how this could change my life.
