The Big Boo Cast, Episode 102

We kick off this episode with an update on Hazel (as Sophie’s mama would have said: “God love her”) and then segue’ into a discussion about our new favorite clothing store that we had almost forgotten about (credit to Melanie, of course, for the re-discovery). Then, like we threatened to do on the last couple of episodes, we talk about some of the pop culture influences that we loved when we were younger.

It probably goes without saying that we don’t know what to think about our current level of podcast productivity. We would like to think that we’ll continue to be consistent and won’t take a random two-month break at some point, but, well, you know us. So it’s probably wise for all of us to keep our expectations in check.

Hope y’all enjoy episode 102!

  1. Hi Sophie! We have a husky that tore her ACL last April and had a TPLO surgery. She limped in March and we also thought it was her foot, but then one night in April she was walking and it tore. It was not pleasant. She had it repaired but needed another surgery (yikes!) in August to put a stitch in to tighten the joint laterally. They told us that if they tear one they often tear the other. Here we are a year later and she is limping on the good leg. We are taking her in today. It is so frustrating! We also didn’t know it was possible for this to happen!

  2. Brittany S says:

I’d like to recommend Madam Secretary if you haven’t watched it! It’s SO good and sounds like something you would like!

  3. Hey Sophie,

My neighbor’s dog had ACL surgery on both his back legs. Sadly, not as uncommon as you feared.

Good luck with sweet, anxious Hazel.

  4. My grand dog, a neurotic Beagle, tore his ACL a few years ago. My daughter and son in law opted to rehab him instead of surgery. They bought a small stock tank, filled it with water and with the dog wearing his life jacket had him tread water for a time every day. Worked well. Apparently, Beagles are quite prone to ACL i injuries. Who knew? And Sophie, I do so love how you tell the Hazel stories. So funny! She is quite blessed to have people like you caring for her.

  5. Our dog tore her ACL a few years ago. $3000 later and a whole lotta mess, it was fixed. They said, “There’s a good chance she’ll tear the other one…” She did. This time, they said (different vet because we moved): “You can have the surgery, or just let it heal itself in a while.” Guess what? She limped for a couple of months, then she stopped. She has to take the equivalent of doggie ibuprofen every day to help with arthritis, etc., but she runs and has a good time!

My recommendation? Avoid the surgery at all cost!!

  6. I saw on Candace Cameron Bure’s instagram that Carol Burnett is having a show called, A Little Help with Carol Burnett that comes out on Netflix May 4th. She will have celebrity guests along with kids on it. The clip looked pretty cute!

  7. Ginna Sadler says:

What kind of a dog is Hazel?
