The Big Boo Cast, Episode 146

Well, I might as well go ahead and tell you that my sound is weird on this episode. Surely you aren’t surprised. And if nothing else it will be a nice throwback to Wolfman Jack’s studio circa 1974.

By the way, you get all sorts of bonus points if you’re up to speed on that Wolfman Jack reference.

Regardless of sound ish-ahs (for when-oh-when have those ever stopped us?), on this episode we recap our recent trip to Oklahoma and talk for a really long time about all the food we ate while we were there. It’s sort of like listening to Bubba Gump talk about all the varieties of shrimp except we didn’t actually eat any shrimp. We eventually work our way around to a brief discussion of Southern Charm as well as my thoughts about Spindrift Orange Mango sparkling water. It’s all very thrilling.

This episode will also bring you one of the very best Melanie comments ever. In fact, it might be my favorite:

“I so enjoy just eating hot versions of cheese.”

Please do enjoy.

  1. Well, I am just blown away. We were in Pawhuska last week as well! My best friend and I drove from Burnet, TX – a 10 hour road trip with 3 teens and a pre-teen. We are STILL RECOVERING. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bartesville right in front of that charming little mall. We fell in love with Pawhuska! And the Boarding House sounds amazing – that is on our bucket list now.

Highlight of the trip- touring Ree’s lodge and meeting Walter. : )

  2. Kristen B. Smith says:

I so enjoyed this episode and found myself nodding my head to everything you had to say about your visit to Oklahoma. My husband and I took a fun birthday/empty nesters road trip last October and spent one day in Pawhuska and one day in Waco at Magnolia. It was amazing. I agree with everything you said about the spicy cowgirl, the not-knots, the pizza, the chicken fried steak and more! We didn’t get to stay in the Boarding House (spent the night in Bartlesville) but our day at the mercantile and the lodge made some really great memories. Thank you for sharing!
