The Big Boo Cast, Episode 300

Well, it’s our 300th episode – and our 15th podcast-i-versary – and Melanie and I are thrilled about both of these things. WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT. So, as you can imagine, we do a little reminiscing on this episode, but we also do a lot of talking about the here and now. That is because this is the week that Alex moves to college, and we have a lot to break down about that.

As always we recap our weekends, and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y’all enjoy!

  63. Amy Furgason says:

I have been listening to y’all since the dawn of time. And I relate to you so much because I am a mom of an only child too and I’m a Nine (9) too! And I’m from Texas. I was almost an Aggie, but decided to wear Burnt Orange instead. But I forgive you, Melanie. I’m still listening.
I listen to the Big Boo Cast when I am walking my dog. So, it’s not uncommon for me to laugh out loud. Speaking of laughing, the best is when it goes silent…because you are both laughing so hard you are not breathing. Thanks for being a light all these years and being my “virtual friends.” Is that weird? Keep it up.

  64. Jan Baker says:

Episode 300 was amazing! I always laugh when I listen, but hearing you guys talk about making each other laugh made me so happy. My favorite laughing moment was when you talked about Melanie giving feelings to various kitchen objects. We couldn’t hear you for what seemed like forever because you were laughing so hard. I still smile when I think about that moment. Thanks for all the fun times!!

  65. I love listening to the podcast each week!

  66. Misty Reynolds says:

Love the show! Discovered you ladies in early Covid and haven’t looked back! If I did a Five Favorites every week you would always be on it! Listened to the 300th yesterday and if that wasn’t enough delight, lo’ and behold I went to a restaurant in Birmingham that night and there sat Sophie, David and Alex’s roommate’s parents! I totally interrupted their dinner (hopefully not rudely) to do a bit of fangirl-ing!
Here are some of my highlights from the last 2 1/2 years:
Melanie educating us that a v-neck T can be “aggressive.”
ANY time Sophie talks about Martha
    Ditto for calves and arches
And of course, when Melanie graciously admitted that Saban was in fact, very charming.
    Roll Tide! Love you, ladies!

  67. Lesley Schmitz says:

Happy Anniversary! I have listened to every podcast episode and read your blog before that. I feel like we are super similar (even though I am a 2 married to a 5). I discovered Keith and Kristyn Getty because of you and have seen them in concert several time. I took my son to Omaha (live in Des Moines) to see Ben Rector on your recommendation. I buy so much stuff you and Melanie recommend. My teenage boys and husband know who you are. Thanks for putting such joy and fun out into the world. Keep at it!

  68. Tiffany Adams says:

Your podcast is a bright spot in my week. Thank y’all for keeping it up! Love the five favorites.

  69. Congratulations! Thanks for the laughs, keeping it real as moms, and for always taking the high road with so much negativity in the world. Best wishes for more success and memories, ladies!

  70. Hope y’all keep the party going for at least another 15 years!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
Your humility, genuineness, and humor are a DELIGHT!

  71. Jennifer Knight says:

Happy 15th and 300th episode!! I love listening because I am also a 9 and y’all make me feel normal!!

    Yay for 300!

Love you & Melanie so much! Listening to y’all makes me laugh out loud on my daily walk! Every. Single. Time. I saw y’all at the Mulehouse last year and it was a delight. I feel like y’all are my people. I joke with my kids that y’all are my imaginary internet BFF’s. (This results in a huge eye roll from the teens). So blessed to get to listen and laugh along with you!

  83. Kaylie Stoltzfus says:

The BigBoo cast has been my favorite for years and this episode was one of the best. My sister introduced it to me right after our sweet mama passed away five years ago. Not only did you and Melanie make me laugh during such a heavy time, it is always a comfort to hear you two talk because you both are close to her age. I’ve since gone back and listened to all the episodes (twice, but who is counting) and laugh every time. Thanks for being yourselves and for spreading joy like none other! Love you both.

  84. Laney Marsh says:

I love your blog! I actually talk back to you guys like I’m part of the conversation ???? Thank you for bring joy to my Thursday commute!

  85. Sara Ring says:

This 300th episode was delightful, as they always are. I’m moving our youngest girl into college in the next state over this weekend, and I’m all up in my emotions. I’m a huge fan of the frequent pauses for the silent laugh, especially from you, Sophie. I also love it when you repeat a phrase that hearkens back to the past, like “you said ____”. The silent laughter catches me off guard every single time, but I love it so much. Also agree that you had some amazing guests over the years, like Phil Rosenthal, Beth Moore, and of course, Fry Daddy Travis Cottrell. Congratulations to you both!

  86. Kristin Henderson says:

Congratulations on 15 years and 300 episodes! ??

  87. Heather Lilyquist says:

I have to agree with so many, some of my favorite pod moments with the two of you are when Melanie gets riled up over injustices (insert Notre Dame) and when you two are laughing so hard it’s silent! Here’s to many more podcasts and anniversary / milestone celebrations!!!

  88. Happy 300! You both have gotten me through some hard times in my life and now it’s like hanging out with old friends!! Thank you for being you!

  89. Emily Stagg says:

I love y’all so much! Grew up in Mississippi, and now live in NC which is technically the south but it’s not the Deep South. When Sophie said the other day that something “tickled her” I was so happy. I’ve read all of your books as well. Y’all just don’t know how good of friends we are ????

  90. Connie Bailey says:

Thank you both for sharing your laughs, tips and blessings with us!!

  91. Kaylee Smith says:

    Love the podcast!!

  92. Nicki Glenn says:

    15 years.
    300 episodes.

I’ve heard them all and LOVED them all!!!

  93. Jennie Beard says:

Congrats on 300 episodes!! I’ve loved every single one!

Happy 300th episode! I’ve been listening for over 10 years. Thanks for all the laughs and recommendations!

  96. Congrats on 300 episodes! You & Melanie always get my Thursday mornings off to a great start. Even though our hearts belong to different schools, this Aggie certainly appreciates your dedication to State. Thanks for the laughs, great recs, and for being a source of pure delight.
    Cheers!
