The Big Boo Cast, Episode 300

Well, it’s our 300th episode – and our 15th podcast-i-versary – and Melanie and I are thrilled about both of these things. WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT. So, as you can imagine, we do a little reminiscing on this episode, but we also do a lot of talking about the here and now. That is because this is the week that Alex moves to college, and we have a lot to break down about that.

As always we recap our weekends, and it’s my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y’all enjoy!

  3. Whitney Berry says:

Happy15 years and 300th episode! Love your podcast and you both! You guys are the highlight of my week in carline!!

  4. Erin Seaman says:

I think one of the reasons we love y’all so much is because it feels like you’re just sharing your everyday lives with us and it truly does make it feel like we’re friends. Big congrats on 300 episodes! Love y’all.

  5. Congratulations or rather Kadooos (sp :) ) to you! 15 years sure went by fast – love love love listening to all the love and wisdom you two share!

  6. Love y’all! Crossing my fingers for a big win!

  7. Amber Cromwell says:

Love your podcast!! Congratulations on 300 episodes????

  8. Love this 300th, 15th anniversary episode. You and Melanie feel like friends to me! I have a daughter slightly older than Caroline and Alex and a son slightly younger, so I love all that content plus the college football, fashion, book recommendations and mostly just cracking up laughing! Hope you are surviving these first few days with Alex off at school…thinking of you:) Thanks for the fun giveaway!!

  9. Paige Laine says:

If it’s not too late to tell you, take some garage towels to dry off with (and then take back home) if it’s raining on move in day.

  10. Terri Gauldin says:

I could not be more excited that all I have to do is leave this comment and not tag 5 friends and follow 10 pages and share to my story and make a post and offer my first born as a sacrifice. Y’all are doing the Lords work! Also,
The simplicity of entering this contest as an almost 53 yo in menopause couldn’t make me any happier…

  11. I think I have listened to every episode now, and you all continue to make my Wednesday or Thursday night dish washing not such a drudge. I try to talk to you on occasion even since it does feel like you’re right there with me!

The clip from the first show reminds me of the watching an old Jimmy Stewart movie, how movie stars talked so differently than they do now. You two so different than you do now and it just makes me grin!

Congrats on 300 shows in 15 years…that’s an 20 shows a year and the last few have been weekly, so… ????

  12. Shannon Walsh says:

Congrats! I love listening to you girls so much!

  13. My favorite memory is having to pull my car over because I was full on cry-laughing when Melanie said “diabet-us” like a Wilford Brinley commercial and the conversation that ensued. Congrats on 300!

  14. Molly Taylor says:

Thank you for always being friends ??

  15. Kimberly Sheppard says:

Happy Anniversary! Y’all have brought bright spots to my walking, or driving journeys for years! Thankful for your authenticity, love for Jesus and compassion for others!
    Kimberly Sheppard

  16. Happy 300! My BFF and I listen from different states. I love a friendship that goes the distance.

  17. Missie Alexander says:

Y’all bring so much joy to my life! I am a football coaches wife and I love listening to other women that love football as much as I do! I also have a daughter that’s going off to college this year, from Texas to Oregon! Thank y’all for being my mama friends!!

  18. I love the podcast and have been listing since your kids were in middle school! Thanks for always making me laugh!

  19. I love listening to you two chat! It’s one of my favorite things every week (also, praise for having a weekly podcast after all those years of random episodes! ????)

  20. Haley Turner says:

Happy 300th episode! The Big Boo Cast is a delight! It’s the only podcast that I can’t wait to hear every week! ??????

  21. Your podcast brings me so much joy! I’m a northern girl, married into a southern family. I love the window into your lives in the south–so many differences to my own. I’m a mom of littles…I love getting a glimpse into the future, both for reassurance that we’re gonna make it through these long days, but also to cherish all the things because before we know it we’ll be dropping them off at college. Thank you for accompanying me on walks, drives, laundry folding, making all the meals, and cleaning all the things. U of M fan here, so I do appreciate the shade to ND…we can’t stand them either.

  22. Kelly Graser says:

Congratulations on 15 years and 300 episodes! I always feel like I’m in your home with you just having a conversation over a cup of coffee. You ladies make me laugh, feel encouraged, and are so relatable. Keep going!

  23. Kelly English says:

Happy 15th anniversary and Kadooz on 300 episodes! Won’t He Do It! Loved meeting you both in Brenham last year and look forward to each episode. Especially during the most wonderful time of the year! College Football Season!

  24. Kelly Johnson says:

I can’t tell you how many times I want to somehow message either of you to tell you that I found a WWII book that’s phenomenal, or a half baked harvest recipe that’s so good (I’m looking at you Creamy Gnocchi Soup with rosemary Bacon), or any number of things. If I forget to check on. Wednesday, I’m always reminded of a new episode because my friend starts sending me texts of bits of the latest podcast. Makes me so happy. Thanks for all you do!

  25. Jenny McManus says:

Love hearing you all on the podcast!

  26. Sara Ruckman says:

I pretty much have a grin on my face and laugh out loud every time I listen. Can’t believe it’s already been 15 years! Love it!

  27. You two are my favorite to listen to. I tell my husband that I feel like I’m just listening to two friends talk, and it’s so fun. I re-listened to your episode with Travis and it about did me in to hear Alex singing happy birthday to Travis and hear Caroline and Alex talking to one another. Congratulations on 300 episodes/15 years! Here’s to many more!

  28. Cortney Carlson says:

Long time listener! Love y’all so much!
    Happy anniversary and 300th!

  29. Marjie Reger says:

Love listening every week on my walks. We have put lots of miles on my shoes together. Also love your books. Thanks Sophie for not being as hard on Notre Dame …it’s only football and I have a beautiful smart loving daughter who graduated happily from there and now is a mama of two…I still love the podcast. Congrats. Marjie

  30. Nancy Head says:

Yay for your weekly chat fix!!! I love it so much!!! Whoo hoo on hitting 300!

  31. Courtney Shelton says:

Y’all are my friends that I’ve never met. I found the podcast shortly after we moved in 2015 and I was so lonely. Thank you for encouraging me to hold onto my sweet “old” friends, to make new friends, to dislike Notre Dame, to “chin up America”, to celebrate others, and so much more. So a huge kadoos to you on 15 years.

  32. Anna Hanks says:

The Big Boo Cast is the highlight of my Thursday morning! I drop the girls off at school and get to listen to my favorite ladies on my drive in to work. Congratulations on 300 episodes!

  33. Kristen Davis says:

Congratulations on 300 episodes! As a fellow enneagram 9 college football lover (War Eagle), i relate so much to everything y’all talk about. Bright spot of my week!

  34. Andrea Sellers says:

Congratulations, y’all don’t look a day over 299, despite Melanie’s unfortunate sun incident this spring. It is all kadoos to the skin care you teach us about. I like to listen when I ride my bike, but what that means is, sometimes on a crowded trail that I let out a real hoot, holler, or whoop when you ladies just tickle the heck out of me, and that receives looks from the people I’m passing by (but I really don’t care, except that I want to stop and tell them how great y’all are and that they should listen too). I appreciate the sacrifice of your 9-ness that you’ve started, had a slow spot in the middle, are in a current rally, and by golly gettin in done on the regular. It’s a testament to Lord. Y’all are charming all the way around. And I appreciate a good leadership book, speech, time as much as you do Sophie. Y’all keep bringing it to us, and we’ll keep listening and bringing our friends. Maybe you’ll hit 20’s of listeners by episode 350, which on current pace should be in 3 years–but goodness I hope Reetha keeps after ya to stick with it weekly because it’s a highlight. And I just dropped off my youngest in College Station too, so laughter needed here! And of course I followed right along and bought many of your recommendations–hello IKEA bags, I’m looking at you.

  35. Love y’all so much!

  36. Brenner Davidson says:

    I love y’all!! Congrats on 300 episodes!!!

  37. Karen Harpole says:

Loved this weeks episode! Congrats on 300!!

  38. Debbie Carney says:

Thank you for sharing your love of Jesus, SEC football, your families, and each other with all of us!

  39. Congrats on the big milestones! I’ve listened since the very beginning. The first time you posted a podcast, I thought, “What is this thing and how do I listen to it?” I pressed play and heard you both speak for the first time. It was like I’d made two new friends who never met me. That hasn’t changed for 15 years. I tell me husband that Melanie told me to try this or Sophie said I should watch that and he knows exactly who I mean. It seems weird to talk about someone like that and I’ve never seen you in person! I’m going to try to change that by coming to a live show soon! Thanks so much for doing what you do!

  40. Heather Hoffman says:

I love listening to y’all. I’m looking forward to joining the live show in October!

  41. Marilyn High says:

Congratulations on getting to 300!! Love your podcast!

  42. Carrie Fuchs says:

I love your podcast so much! My daughter is the same age as Alex, and I feel like you and Melanie have been my therapists as I’ve been all in my feels over the past year or so. As a fellow 9, I’m not a big fan of feeling my feelings, but your podcast has been a balm and an escape. Love you both!

  43. Julie Wieters says:

Love the show! I am wearing an eShakti dress next weekend for a wedding, thanks to you!

  44. Beth Hames says:

Soph and Mel! Congrats on the 300th episode! Please don’t stop! As a mom who just dropped my oldest at college I need the weekly tips and encouragement. Love y’all!

  50. Kristin Henderson says:

You girls are the highlight of my week! I listen to you religiously every Thursday night after I put my little kids to bed and while my husband is out playing late night basketball. It is the balm to my soul at the end of a long, hectic week. God truly uses you to bring joy to my heart and a smile to my face and of course some additional items to my closet. Haha. You are just a little ahead of me in life as I am in my mid-40s with my oldest being a senior in high school so I can relate or know I will soon to what you talk about. Keep up the good work, the Lord’s work! ??????
