ALERT. ALERT.

I totally stole that title from an IM Big Mama sent me a couple of weeks ago, by the way.

But I’m terribly excited because apparently you – yes, all of you! – can click here.

And watch (almost) any TV show you want on a new site called Hulu.

FOR FREE.

I’m all over it, my friends.

So I guess I’ll see y’all sometime in 2018. When I finish watching all the TV.

(Hat tip to Throwing Things for the link, by the way.)

(and p.s. – Hulu has free movies, too.)

(and p.p.s. – For obvious Hulu-related reasons, this is shaping up to be the BEST! DAY! EVER!)

edited to add: before you sign up for Hulu, be sure to read this comment from Shauna. Great info.

  1. Holy out-of-control-television-viewing, Batman! Now my naked, starving family has something they can do while I’m blogging about being a Proverbs 31 Woman. Which is, of course, the next best thing to, you know, BEING one.

  2. I saw that on It Coulda Been Worse, too. They don’t have The Gilmore Girls or The West Wing, but they DO have What’s Happenin’ and Welcome Back Kotter. (Life is all about the trade-off, y’know.)

Anyway, WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!! My last trimester is going to be teeveelicious! :) And nursing 24/7 suddenly sounds quite pleasant.

  3. With Hulu and some of those fancy Cheez Its life could not possible get any better… Who knew? Hulu! (I know I should pitch that to them…)

  4. Ooooo, not being a monthly payer of such services to the local cable company, this excites me a GREAT deal! :)

  5. Aol’s In2tv also has a bunch of classic tv shows you can watch for free.

  6. Oh my word!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT they don’t have full length Project Runway!!!! CRUEL.

  7. Oh, I clicked the link with such rapidity! My husband just turned off our cable and I miss my SciFi!

But alas, no stargate atlantis to be found. Nor Britt Hume.

My soul is once again weeping.

My husband says this is proof he did the right thing. But what does he know? :-)

  8. Waaaahhhhh! I am in Canada, and it doesn’t allow my country any free anything.

Boo hoo. I thought I found my new workout partner. (I have a MacBook which I balance precariously on my elliptical whilst I workup a gentle sweat. Usually I try to watch something but so many sites don’t allow outside the US to view TV)

  9. kathleen says:

My 12-year old and I just watched Mary Tyler Moore and Welcome Back Kotter! Hilarious!

  10. Sweet! This just made my day. (You can see how exciting my days are. haha ;)

  11. Thanks for the tip. It’s too bad they only have the current (interrupted) season of The Office.

  12. I got completely excited…

…and then discovered its US only. Waaahhh!

    Cheers,
    Lizzie (moping in Australia)

  13. ALERT! ALERT! Be sure and go to the Privacy and Settings tab as soon as you sign up, as several of the Profile settings that appear to be public by default should not be–such as first and last name and location.

I can’t believe I can watch American Gothic and Firefly! :)

  14. This is the best day of my life.

  15. Holy canoli. Now I’ll never leave my computer and my children starve.

  16. wow.
there’s just no way this can be legal.
    wow.
who needs cable if this is legit?!

  17. Another Canadian wanting to cry here! Why oh why won’t they let us watch? There’s just a few of us up here, they’d never know the difference. ;)

Oh well, I guess I’m supposed to be spending my time on something more productive.

  18. I am in Mexico, and I suffer from the same thing, blocking our IP address. There is some way or other that we can mask it, but I have no idea how to do that. We, instead, go to http://mininova.org and download shows that we can’t watch on the internets.

  19. No stinkin’ way! How are they funding this? Are we breaking the law? Who cares? I can watch Lost re-runs from jail!

  20. This is absolutely awesome ( from another person without cable) Sounds pretty legit. From their website:

“Hulu’s ambitious and never-ending mission is to help you find and enjoy the world’s premium content when, where and how you want it. We hope to provide you with the web’s most comprehensive selection from more than 50 content providers including FOX, NBC, MGM, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and more to deliver premium programming across all genres and formats, television shows, feature films, and clips. Watch full-length episodes of current primetime TV shows such as The Simpsons and The Office the morning after they air, classics like Miami Vice and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and clips from Saturday Night Live, Nip/Tuck, and others. Hulu also offers full-length feature films like The Usual Suspects, Ice Age, Three Amigos!, and The Big Lebowski as well as clips from films such as Napoleon Dynamite, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Devil Wears Prada and many more. Hulu is free and ad-supported — available anytime in the U.S.

Hulu was founded in March 2007 and is a joint venture owned by NBC Universal and News Corp. In addition, Hulu has closed a $100 million investment from private equity firm Providence Equity Partners.

Hulu’s small, but growing team is headquartered in Los Angeles, California with a Research and Development team in Beijing, China. “

  21. I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it. I’m about to lose control and I think I like it. A huh!

    WOO HOO!

  22. Um, what am I doing wrong here? I just watched Facts of Life without signing up….what does signing up do? Anything different? Do you HAVE to sign up? I assume not since I was able to watch…but the other poster warned about privacy settings when you sign up. Do I just have a few chances without signing up and then I’m blocked?

  23. If you go to a place called sidereel, you can also find shows for free. They link to lots of different places online that post shows you can watch for free. It’s like an entire unexplored universe!

My husband and I actually dropped our satellite subscription about a month ago, and honestly, we haven’t missed it.

  24. THAT IS SOOOO COOL!!!!!

  25. This is amazing!

  26. That is pretty fabulous; the only bad thing is they have random episodes and you can’t watch a show in order. It’s perfect for fun watching but I think I’ll stick with Nextflix for my (anally) watched episodes in order. If the commenter above will check Netflix, they will find Stargate Atlantis there!

  27. Oh my word!! I love it!! Thank you for sharing this!! This is like an “TA DAA” moment for me as we don’t have cable!! I know….we are crazy people. =)

  28. Other sites I have found to be valuable…VEOH tv and TVU.
    http://www.veoh.com/
    http://www.tvunetworks.com/

I’ll have to check out HuLu. Sounds like I don’t need a TV in the bedroom, we’ll just watch our computers!

  29. Thank you! I’ve been looking for something like this. Just watched Benson….good times! :o)

  30. WOW! Amazing…I am watching NewsRadio for FREE! Funniest show ever, at least while Phil Hartman was still on…

  31. How great is that! We disconnected our dish last year and do the Netflix thing. But this will surely come in handy in between. Thanks for the tip!

  32. OK, OK…but there is only 5 episodes of 24, season 6! I can’t just watch 5! So, is that the catch???

  33. Can’t wait to check it out~!
