I just read a funny, dead-on wrap up of this year’s American Idol written by Tom Gliatto of People magazine.
And here’s my favorite part:
In fact, [Blake] was given free rein to beatbox with Doug E. Fresh last night: I think I heard everything come out of his mouth except the cry of the lonesome whip-poor-will.
Until next year….

Ah, I’ll just never forget the look of Melinda in the audience on Tuesday night – she stood there with the most blank stare and you could just read her mind: I lost to THEM?!
Steph
Thanks to lousy producing, the show ran long. After suffering through 2 hours of DVR recorded fluff, we didn’t get to see the “moment”. But, thank God we got to see the Golden Idol awards. Thank God!!
yes, yes, yes – that article says it all, indeed!
Jane, Pinks & Blues Girls
That poor girls momma has to be so proud. I mean being 9 and crying uncontrollably for a quirky, untalanted singer named Sanjaya. What more could a mother wish for really?
You know she’s going to be known as “that girl” all through her adolescent years. And that just can’t be good for her. Bless her heart.
Well, we here in Seattle still think he’s a cutie.
Yes, Melinda was better (and SHOULD HAVE WON).
Yes, Jordin is very talented.
But, Blake is a cutie, darn-it. He just is.
My favourite part was the bush baby. Really now. I hadn’t really seen the similarities until they showed the picture…then wow-za,… They must have been seperated at birth.
And then to sponsor one on his behalf…now that was sweet. ahem.
Poor guy could hardly keep the smile on his face. I was just waiting for the tears to pour out of those mammoth eyes.
Gonna get stoned, but I’m one of the few that think Melinda didn’t really need to win. She was just BLAH! She had no REAL personality, but she was indeed a great singer. I wouldn’t have bought her CD, and I think that’s where most of it comes into play. Marketablility.
I’m glad Jordin won, and I’m a Blaker girl. I just think she is an “American Idol” and now Blake can go and make whatever CD he really wants to make.
I went to read it, and yes, he did sum it up well. :)
I had taped the show on satelite PVR, and right before they announced the winner, my two hour taping cut off! Argh!! But I managed to flip to a channel to see Jordin finishing off the night, so I guess I didn’t miss much. I loved the Sanjaya moment–hilarious!! I got my daughter out of bed to watch, and we howled.
I recorded it last night and right before they announced the winner my recording shut off. I didn’t find out until this morning when I called my Mom. Can you imagine how I felt??
But wasn’t that absolutely FANTASTIC when he performed? My eight year old son literally came OUT OF HIS CHAIR.
Until next year! (Let’s hope for a more exciting year. Maybe its just me, but I was not too into this year!)
That was a GREAT article. I loved how he compared Sanjaya to Golum! Stinkin’ hilarious!
LOL. I’m so not a fan. I mean, I did dedicate a blog entry to it this past week and all, but…..
And what was with the crying kid they showed on the news??? I don’t get it.
BLessings,
~Toni~
