In Which I’m Giving Away Mr. Darcy

Today I had a delightful lunch with my hubby and my little man, and when I got home I noticed a FedEx box propped against the front door.

And do you know what was inside that FedEx box? The one and only Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Well, I mean, it’s Mr. Darcy in DVD form. But still. It was a very special moment. And I think we should have ourselves a little giveaway to celebrate.

(However, I should probably warn you that my cousin Paige is visiting right now, and given the fact that she has never met a British romance that she didn’t absolutely love, I’m probably going to have to hide the DVDs for the next 24 hours.)

(In fact, she turned on the TV last night with the sole purpose of catching the last few minutes of “Masterpiece Theatre.” Neveryoumind that I couldn’t even tell her what channel PBS is on because as you know I AM VERY CULTURED AND REFINED.)

So.

If you’d like to win The Romance Collection Special Edition, which is bascially over 30 hours of “star-studded, classic literary adaptations on 14 DVDs” (you can see all the details right here), all you have to do is leave a comment and tell me so. I’ll leave the giveaway open until tomorrow night at 6 o’clock central time, at which point I’ll select a winner using random.org.

And just for kicks, tell me your favorite romantic movie when you leave your comment.

Oh, it’ll be jolly good fun.

(Sorry.)

(I couldn’t help it.)

(Sorry.)

This giveaway is now closed.

Not sure when I’ll ever have time to watch all of those, but I’d still love to have them. Especially since our DVD library currently consists of many Bond movies as well as a wide variety of sport-themed movies (Remember the Titans, Radio, etc.) Guess who does most of the DVD shopping in our house? Maybe not your typical classic love stories, but then again I am different! lol Oh and the one with Richard Chamberlain as the priest in love – the name skips my mind right now. I’m sure I’ll think of it as soon as I go to bed!

    Hugs,
    Marie

  70. Oh my word…I really want this…I am so guilty of coveting right now cause I don’t think that random generator thingy will pick me, but…oh, I really want it. I was watching Masterpiece last night, too, and loved it. I was also putting my kids to bed at the same time and asked my husband
(who is on crutches right now)to tell me what I missed. His synopsis was interesting to say the least. Pray for him….trapped…on crutches…watching Masterpiece Theatre with his wife. Bless his heart.

  71. What a great giveaway! I love those British period pieces. I have to watch Mansfield Park everytime it’s on cable. Every time. Sigh.

  74. I love me a good Jane Austen chick flick! My fave – Pride and Prejudice!

  75. You younger girls need to see “Love Story” with Ryan O’Neal and Ali McGraw. I’ll never forget seeing it almost 40 years ago in Dallas just before I got married. I cried all the way home! Very romantic!

  76. Any Austen…I’ll say “Pride and Prejudice” LOVE IT!

  77. I’ve never seen any of these. Tragic, I know. That is why you should pick me!

  81. Sense and Sensibility FOR SURE!!!

  82. I swooned so much over Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice….I ended up naming my first son Colin!!!!

  83. *Sigh* My favorite romance flick…

    I…

    don’t…

    one.

Because around here? We watch Rocky. And Veggie Tales.

  85. Caroline says:

    I love Pride and Prejudice!

  86. Oh goodness…I love me some Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice…Sense and Sensibility. You can’t choose just one.

And an artsy French one. Amelie.

    I have layers, people.

  87. Sense and Sensibility!

  88. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite Jane Austen novel, and the A&E production with the best Mr. Darcy ever is my favorite romantic movie. No question, hands down.

Trying to figure out my second favorite would be an impossible task.

  89. I’ve never actually seen this version of the movie and have been told it puts the newer version with Kiera Knightly to shame. I’d be very interested in watching this one and the others included if I won. Thanks for letting me try!

  90. treehousemomma says:

I love, love, love Colin Firth…I will see any move with him in it!

    Thanks, Boo Mama!!

  91. Me ME ME! Pick ME!

Mkay, favorite romantic movie would be Return to Me starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. Also love Bonnie Hunt in it, because she is just ALL sorts of hilarious.

  92. kami…you MUST see the “true” version of pride and prejudice. it is the best.

while i don’t necessarily want to win, (there are much needier girls than me in the posts before mine) i feel it must be said that while pride and prejudice is wonderful, sense and sensibility is by far the best jane austen ever did. i love it. i watch it frequently and wish that i would have lived in those days. i want to be marianne dashwood (or lizzie) when i grow up, but i do hope to find darcy–my own darcy, of course (or willoughby…shoot, i’d even take edward) willing to marry me instead of having to settle for col. brandon. though he was precious, too.

those of you that love jane as much as i do should check out this site i found the other day.

    http://www.cafepress.com/buy/jane+austen/-/x_19/source_searchBox/y_7

we should start a national jane austen day. why not? she’s changed the world. well, my world, anyway.

  93. Would you believe that, to my ninetysomething grandmother’s dismay, I have never seen any version whatsoever of Pride and Prejudice? Nor read the book!

‘Tis true. ‘Tis a great, great shame. ‘Tis also my week o’ birthday. ‘TIS.

Favorite romantic movie? Oh, I think I love ’em all. But since I have to choose one, I’ll go with a serious oldie but a goodie that hasn’t yet been mentioned:

Desk Set, with darling, witty Hepburn and cranky, charming Tracy. Bonus: for our seventh anniversary, mr. f5 gifted me with a copy of my very own.

Because for one’s seventh anniversary, the suggested gift? Is desk sets. LOVE MR. F5.

  94. Sarah says:

My absolute favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice =) Would love to win!

  95. Suzanne says:

I love Mr.Darcy! I looked up all of the movies he (Colin Firth) has ever been in and wanted to watch all of them (there weren’t too many at the time)but alas I only watched one (and it was weird)! I still love him in P&P though! I hope I win!! Plus this is my first comment ever on here! Love your blog!

  96. Please, please, please enter me in this drawing! I would love to win!

Oh, and I’m watching that Masterpiece Theatre series, Cranford, right now thanks to Tivo. Good stuff!

  97. I love Sense and Sensibility…oh, and Hope Floats!

  98. Oh, my daughter and I could have a romance movie marathon! I have so many favorites…but one would have to be “Pride and Prejudice”.

  99. I love a bit of humour so I’d have to say any of the romance comedies by Doris Day are a hit with me :-)

    Anyway great giveaway,

    Love from Northern Ireland

    Elaine
