Today I had a delightful lunch with my hubby and my little man, and when I got home I noticed a FedEx box propped against the front door.
And do you know what was inside that FedEx box? The one and only Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.
Well, I mean, it’s Mr. Darcy in DVD form. But still. It was a very special moment. And I think we should have ourselves a little giveaway to celebrate.
(However, I should probably warn you that my cousin Paige is visiting right now, and given the fact that she has never met a British romance that she didn’t absolutely love, I’m probably going to have to hide the DVDs for the next 24 hours.)
(In fact, she turned on the TV last night with the sole purpose of catching the last few minutes of “Masterpiece Theatre.” Neveryoumind that I couldn’t even tell her what channel PBS is on because as you know I AM VERY CULTURED AND REFINED.)

Oh, how I love a good British romance! And the best part is that I get to watch them all alone because no one else in my house is even remotely interested. My favorite book is Jane Eyre and the A&E version is also my favorite movie. I love me some Jane Eyre. Also, anything Jane Austen. I have Sense and Sensibility (the one with Hugh Grant) on VHS (I’m way ahead of my time, I know) and I’ve just about worn it completely out.

The Quiet Man-John Wayne and the Anne of Green Gables movies. And yes, I consider them romance. But I also, love Message in a Bottle, Dirty Dancing, and Titanic. Guess I need to check out Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, though. Lots of recommendations.

Yall are making me feel so old – My favorites would have to be An Officer and a Gentleman, A Star Is Born – with Barbara Streisand & Kris Kristofferson – I waited over a year for it to come out on DVD, When a Man Loves A Woman. Along with my new favorite The Notebook – who wouldn’t want a man to love you the way Noah loved Allie?
Sense and Sensibility, Princes Bride, Pride and Prejudice, and The Last of the Mohicans are my favorites. Can’t pick just one!
