She Speaks 2008

If you’re going to She Speaks this year, head on over to Lysa’s blog – she has some info that you’ll find oh-so-helpful.

And also, I just got out of bed, and it’s 10:15 in the morning.

That has absolutely nothing to do with She Speaks, of course, but still. I’m somewhat fascinated by the fact that I slept so late. I got in the bed to read around 9:30 last night, and the next thing I knew, Alex was patting me on the back and telling me that it was okay to wake up because he and my daddy had been to McDonald’s.

It was the crack of ten, thankyouverymuch.

And so here I sit. In my pajamas. In my parents’ den. With my hair in a clip. And it’s almost lunchtime.

Why, I practically feel sixteen again.

Maybe I need to find an old Phil Collins cassette and play it while I try to figure out what colors of scrunchy socks I’m going to layer underneath my acid-washed jeans.

And if you’ll excuse me, I really need to go fix my bangs.

  1. Tease them high, sister. Tease them high.

  2. LOL… I slept until 10:30 am this morning. UNHEARD of for me.

I wish I could say that it was because I was enjoying a relaxing vacation, but I can’t. 4 words: Pepto Bismol and Imodium A.D. :-( (But, I am feeling much better now.)

  3. WOW!!! 10:30! I just got back from visiting my parents and the latest I slept was 6:30 EASTERN TIME!!! That’s what you get when traveling with excited 4 and 1 1/2 year old boys!
Don’t forget to tight roll those jeans, girl!

  4. Wow you have the coolest parents – I never slept past 9 even the morning after prom! My folks were the “rise and shine for your light has come” believers. I miss my mama and daddy – enjoy your time like crazy!
BTW – it is far too hot for scrunchy socks here in Texas – 95 today with plenty o’humidity to make those bangs go whonkerjawed.

  5. Come check out my new post on RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: Bloggers Meeting Face 2 Face. Let me know what I can add!

10:15! You must have needed it today. Enjoy. I woke up with the sun. I am never up at 5 AM but I was today. Gorgeous day.

Enjoy it, love it, live it. Have a good one.

  6. Kristi in Texas says:

Oh, we are so the same age! Everytime you or Big Mama make comments about the past…I am right with you…

You crack me up! And man, I wish I were at my mom’s house right now!

  7. Was your hair in a clip or a “Banana clip”- remember those things? Nothing says the 80’s like the “banana clip” with teased bangs, of course!

  8. Or, did you do your hair in a side ponytail?

  9. I’m sure your scrunchy matched your socks. :)

  10. Be sure to use a really small barrel curling iron to achieve maximum height!

  11. wow. I’m jealous of your sleeping in. Luckyyyyyyy. :)

  12. And later, when you feel like dressing up for dinner, you could wear your Unit top and skirt with some jelly shoes. It’ll be fun!

  13. Seeing as how you are in your pj’s then you totally need to come visit my last two blog posts where girls are outing themselves for not bathing on schedule..

    it’s so stinkin’ punny….

  14. Don’t forget to peg your jeans, I can do it really tight, you just let me know. And I have Ultra Super Maximum Hold Aquanet if you need it.

  15. AHHAHAHA! That sounds just like the good ‘ol days!

(I cannot believe I just said that.) Don’t tell anyone.

  16. What a blessing your parents are to give you extra and much needed sleep!

    God bless them!

  17. Can one sleep past seven o clock in the morning? I must have not gotten the memo, and I KNOW my two year old didn’t.

And you make me laugh out loud everyday. And now I want to go to my Daddy’s house and do the very same thing.

  18. I totally agree with Kristi! I just realized one of the reasons why I love your blog so much is because we’re the same age and we are in similar stages of life… so I totally get it!!! It was so fun reading about your time with your cousins and the sword-wielding ninja too… Have a good rest of your weekend!

  19. Oh my! I’ve found a fellow sleeper. I love to sleep in and I don’t know what’s so wrong with sleeping until 10am — early morning? It’s just too, well, too early. And bangs? Oh yes, teased high and sprayed stiff — and we didn’t have to worry about them falling.

Glad I finally popped over here to read your blog — I’ve heard a lot about BooMama, but I figured it was some ghost hunter or a mom with a penchant for scaring her kids… glad to see you’re just a normal Mom who remembers Phil Collins and tapes!
