Hewlett Packard Printer Review & Giveaway

cd028a_300

Several weeks ago I got an email asking if I’d like to try to HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer, Scanner & Copier (be sure to memorize the official name because there will be a test at the end of this giveaway). Since I haven’t had a printer for about, oh, EIGHT YEARS, I quickly answered the email and said, “Yes, please.” Because I figured having a printer of my own might be a smidge more convenient than sending attachments to my husband and asking him to print them for me. Which is pretty much how I’ve run this operation from the get-go. All fancy-like, you know.

The printer arrived early last week, and while I was thrilled to try it, I wasn’t nearly as thrilled as my daddy, who happened to be visiting and COULD NOT WAIT to open the printer box. In fact, he was the one who unpacked everything and unwrapped all the manuals and whathaveyou, and I’m pretty sure that if I’d offered to give him the printer he would have done some hitchkicks in my dining room.

(Not that he’s really the hitchkicking type, you understand. But he was mighty impressed by everything the HP C6380 can do. I think it was the first time he’s ever thought this whole blogging thing just might have some merit, and that is totally fine because I know how deeply new electronics speak to the heart of every man.)

Later that night I got a chance to really put the printer to the test, and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to set up. For some reason I still expect to have to enter some MS-DOS commands when I install new software, but the HP installation was easy breezy and over in just a few minutes. Plus, it’s a wireless printer, so I didn’t even have to fool with any pesky cords. I have the printer neatly tucked away in an area where it’s pretty much out of sight (I’m not a fan of the electronic clutter), and it works like a dream.

And the next day, that sassy new printer really made a believer out of me. I realized that I’d forgotten to pick up a birthday card for a friend, and I was just about to pull out a piece of stationery and write a note when I realized WAIT! I HAVE A PRINTER NOW! I CAN MAKE A CARD!

Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?

So I went to the HP website and found a card I liked and printed it out right then and there. IT WAS A WONDER, not to mention that it was quite a bit more professional-looking than when I used to print out cards on my daddy’s dot-matrix printer when I was in high school.

We have given our HP printer a work-out this last week, and it’s been such a treat. The wireless feature is fab, and I’m so excited about scanning in old pictures (something else I’ve never been able to do because I’ve never owned a scanner before, which pretty much makes me an embarrassment to the entire internet). It probably goes without saying that I’m tickled that we now have a piece of home-office equipment that does everything we need.

(Except it doesn’t wash windows or do laundry.)

(I imagine that it will be several years before they add those particular features.)

SO, if you’d like to win an HP Photosmart C6380 printer of your very own, leave a comment on this post and tell me how this printer would make your life easier. This contest will remain open until Sunday, February 8th at 11:59 pm.

And if you’d like additional chances to win, check out the BlogHer HP giveaway round-up page.

Have fun, everybody!

  5. Kristi in Texas says:

Oh, my printer has quit working…and I too send attachments to work and print them out. Would be a dream to have a printer at home again.!

  6. Oh, the hubs and I were looking at one of these last week!

I’m trying to get him to ditch the scanner & printer for a more svelte all-in-one.

Please, please, please pick me? ;)

  7. I’m crossing my fingers. Our printer is very old school!

  8. Rhonda Pepper says:

Please pick me…my printer is at deaths doorstep…one more PTO project might just kick her on over….

  9. Mary Helen says:

Wow! This sounds like an awesome printer! I have always wanted a wireless printer. Right now I have to go into our guest bedroom with the laptop, get down on the floor to try to find the cord to the printer, sit down on the floor and print whatever I need from there. Yes, this would make life much easier! Thanks so much!!!

  10. Christina says:

We homeschool and I can not tell you how often I say, “I could really use a printer/copier right now”. This would be awesome!

  11. I despise my printer. This one is pretty. Multifunctional. Wireless. Love it!

  12. What are the odds? My current printer is EIGHT. years. old. Thankfully, it’s working, but oh my – how lovely it would be to win this.

  13. Stephanie says:

my printer is so old that it’s scary

  14. I can’t even tell you how old my little printer is…bless it, it still runs though, but makes LOTS of noise. I think its time to retire it! I would love to win this WIRELESS printer/scanner! I’m sure it works like a dream!!!

  15. Amy Martin says:

I would love a new printer!! :) I’m going to be homeschooling and that will come in so handy!!

  16. My husband and I have one printer between us and it’s getting old. We need an upgrade and wireless would be fabulous!

  17. Beth Bell says:

I am in graduate school at Mississippi State University and this would for sure be so helpful to me! Printing things at the libary and at friends houses is getting old. I would love to win it. Thanks!

  18. I’d love a new printer especially for pictures!

  19. Like you, I have not had my own printer in about 5 years! I always send stuff to work to print them out!! I would love to be able to print cute recipe cards, stationary, calling cards and whatever else tickles my fancy without having to email it to myself at work and stealing the ink there and sneaking to the printer!! :)

  20. I could scan all those pictures I keep complaining that I don’t have on my computer with the rest!

    laura

  21. I have an HP printer from year 2004. It has worked great up until I started printing out some stuff I did for Christmas. Then it started making bad noises. I finished my projects though and I am thinking that I probably need a new one before I entertain a thought of another project. Thanks for the chance to win!

  22. I would really LOVE to win this printer. I NEED this printer! Crossing my fingers for this one!!!

  23. I think “wireless” says it all! Also, I would love the scanner. I have been wanting to get me one for awhile now to scan our pictures. My son does DVD’s, but we have to go through a whole big process when we want “old” pictures (ones NOT on the digital camera) added to the show he’s making. Too long to even put here! Short story: A HUGE TIME-SAVER!!

  24. Wow! This would be so cool! I just got my first digital camera and this would make life so much easier for printing my pictures as I currently have no way of printing them at home. And for it to be wireless…..awesome! I can put it where I have room for it….not just where a cord reaches to. I love HP products!

  25. I would love this for the scanner capabilities. We were given a used scanner a few years ago. It was old to begin with, and very used. It’s just recently been disposed of – this give-a-away is so timely! Thanks for the chance to replace old equipment!

  26. Ooooo – I am inspired by all that the printer can do!! Personalized cards and calendars for everyone! :-)

  27. Ooh, ooh, Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter! My scanner doesn’t work anymore, and since the printer is set up in a construction zone, the wireless thing would be so cool!

  28. I would be so excited to win this printer. I don’t print anything at home because I don’t have one.

  29. Wireless….photos…..makes cards….what in tarnation needs to be said?
    Nothing.
    Hook me up, ChaCha!

  30. Hello there! I would LOVE a new printer. Ours seems to be on the fritz and is not working very well…it might be on its way out as it is already 7 years old! I would absolutely love to be considered for this new printer!

I enjoy reading your blog and giggle a lot while reading.

    Blessings,
    Melody

  31. a lovely printer it is!! My husband is an IT guy for a living. You know how the cobbler’s kids have no shoes??? Well the IT guys family has no printer! This one would be AWESOME!

  32. I need this, need to scan pics to create a photobook for my daughter’s graduation. Plus scanner and printer…. and wirless all in one, how awesome!

  33. That is AWESOME! I am an aspiring photographer – and would LOVE to be able to easily print my photos right at home! And the cards? No more running to the store at the last minute when I realize I forgot to get a card for one of the million kid birthday parties my kids are invited to at school.

  34. Jennifer C says:

my printer is out of ink. The cartridges are very hard to find. :( New printers come w/ ink! :)

  35. I’d love to win this printer…I’m an amateur photographer and think having a photo printer like this would be fabulous!

  36. I could totally use this! Just before Christmas my 2 year old shoved a highlighter into the paper feed of our current printer. Needless to say, we no longer have that printer!

  37. Oh how exciting! I have been wanting a wireless printer!

  38. I love it!! I need a new printer since mine tends to print in off colors and gives everyone an orange “glow”. I would love to win this since I need to toss out my current printer asap! Thanks for the chance to win!

  39. you had me at, “how easy it was to set up.” and wireless too? sounds too good to be true.

  40. I would really like having a few less wires/cords in our computer area. Right now it looks like a snake convention!

  41. Ashley G. says:

I also send things to my husband to print. If I had this, his productivity at work might skyrocket!

  42. We’ve never owned a printer, so I always have to have my husband print things out at the computer lab at school. It would be so great to print at whim!

  43. I’d like to win so I can stop having to print off stuff at work

  44. oh, please, yes, we would love to win this incredible machine! Thank you!

  45. This would make my life easier because I could print my pictures to scrapbook instead of having to have them printed somewhere else.

  46. Pick me! Our printer only works when it wants…which is very frustrating.

  47. Oh this would be wonderful for all of us – but I would give it to my son who is moving to China. He can’t take anything electrical so wireless would be absolutely perfect!

  48. I would love this! Like you, we’ve not had a printer at our house in 5+ years. With 2 little ones, we’re constantly needing to print/copy/scan something. To do so, I have to pack said kids up into the car, drive to hubby’s office, and do the work there. This would be a lifesaver in our house!

  49. This printer would certainly change my life instead of me spending my life changing the ink my desperately useless current printer!

  50. This printer sounds great! My printer is upstairs with my desktop. Because I have 9 month old twins, my husband got me a laptop so I could do my “thing” while watching them downstairs. Problem: I have to either save the file on a thumbdrive and run it upstairs, load it to the pc, and print it or email myself the link, run upstairs, etc… all working as fast as I can so that the downstairs isnt destroyed by the wonder twins. With this printer, I wouldnt have to leave the room!!!

  51. Ooh! I just went wireless with the new laptop and would ADORE a wireless printer!

  52. I don’t have a printer at all so when I work at home I save everything to my thumbdrive and print it at work. I could work more at home and less at work! :)

  53. This wireless printer would be wonderful to have in my new scrap space.

  54. Would love to try ‘wireless’ printing. Thanks for the opportunity!
    Kaye

  55. I’ve never heard of a wireless printer, sound great though.

    Thanks, Denise

  56. it would make my life easier, because the current printer we have, does NOT work and hasn’t worked for about 2 years!!! thanks!!!!

  57. I do all my printing on my husband’s printer, which is also his business printer so he has to reimburse his boss and I print LOTS of recipes!!! I also never get cards sent off to people b/c that would mean hauling three munchkins to the store to actually buy the card. I love the idea of printing cards! thanks!

  58. Oh this certainly would get a lot of use in our home. I have about 1000 pictures I’ve been stalling on getting printed up. Plus my printer {an ancient one, but it’s an hp too} has been … acting up lately. It turns off for no reason. I think it’s possessed. For reals.

  59. I feel sure that by winning this incredible piece of technological machinery I would immediately become a better wife, mother, friend, cook (ok maybe not)…in general just a better all round person. Here’s hoping I win!

  60. What a great giveaway! I keep a photo album of each of my children so that when they grow up and no longer live at home, they can take their very own albums with them. I end up having to make duplicates of many pictures so none gets left out!

  61. I’m sure this will make my life easier in ways I haven’t even imagined …

    :)

  62. I could use to start archiving pictures of my husband’s grandparents and father for a photo DVD I want to make him. Also, It would help with printing off my homework. (I have to be in one room for internet to work and another to use the printer…do you get the picture…)
    Thanks
    Sarah

  63. Jennifer Haggard says:

This would be great, My kids can do homework in their rooms, instead of mine where the desktop is hooked to the only printer.

  64. I need a printer like this! I do all my personal printing (whispe) *at work* It would be wonderful to perform some guilt-free printing at home!

  65. oohh..we just bought a new tower (our old one as only from 1997!) and our existing printer isn’t compatiable. And since we are doing the dave ramsey-pay-down-debt-cause-the-economic-world-is-crashing-people plan…I refuse to buy a printer right now.

And my little girls are being emotionally scarred by this because they can’t print out littlest pet shop stuff to color.

If I won it would save me therapy bills in the future!

  66. I really need this printer so I can copy things at home and not have to get out with the kids and drag them into the copy store! I also would love to have a scanner!

  67. Am I allowed to say I’m disappointed that it can’t fax, as well?

  68. I could use it to print shipping labels to ship merchandise sold from my store at http://stores.ebay.com/Denim-Recycled . Nice plug, huh?

Thanks for the great giveaway! :)

  69. I’m tired of competing for face time with my printer. I am the only female in my household, and my guys can be bullies when it comes to printing out important things like, Um, say, NASCAR stats-or pictures of strange objects around that house that they think would make a funny picture book.

That’s right, we are the creative type.

Anyway, my world would be blessed to win this lovely HP printer!

  70. Patricia Underwood says:

It would be great for my homeschool endeavors!

  71. It would make life so much easier being able to print from my laptop.

  72. A wireless printer would save me lots-o-time! My darling hubby bought me a sweet laptop for Christmas. It’s practically attached to my fingers. Yet, if I want to print I have to send it to the old desktop and do much of the work where the old wired printer is. Slows a gal down a bit, ya know. Thanks for the giveaway chance for all of us.

  73. OOOOOHHHHHH how I would LOVE a wireless printer. Hubby bought me a laptop for Christmas because I spent all my time in the other end of the house on the computer and now I can sit in the den with the fam and be on the computer too! The best of both worlds! However, if I want to print, I have to actually get UP off the couch and walked back to the office and plug in my laptop into the printer! So you can see how this would be something that would change my life :)

  74. The wireless feature did it for me….who knew it was possible??? Thanks

  75. Sophie, I really need scanning capabilities because people are putting awful high school pics on Facebook…and I’m in them! Please help me even the score, in a sweet, Southern way of course.

    Thanks!

  76. Suffice it to say, it’s all been said. Count me in. Thanks for a chance

  77. My kiddos could really use a new printer. Because of the dinosaur printer they have now they email stuff to me and we print on my computer.

  78. Oh, this would be wonderful! We currently have an OLD printer, probably from circa 1990! I’d love a new fancy printer/copier/scanner/housecleaner/toilet bowl cleaner/etc!!

    Thanks!

  79. My printer, as wonderful as it is, is ANCIENT!!! So please pick me. Pretty please with a cherry on top. THANKS for the great give away.

  80. We need this printer because we are adopting a precious 4 year old girl from Jamaica and we really need to print out a ton of high-quality pictures of her adorable face!

  81. Well, this would be a total God-send for me. I’m in my last semester at college, doing my full time student teaching and have absolutely no where to print my lesson plans. And let me tell you, this is not good for a girl with what seems like a millions lessons a week! And no job. Or money. And it would definitely look great in my new classroom IF I can find a job. Not that I’m complaining or anything… *grins*

    God bless!

  82. Sarah Ssisco says:

I would love this printer. I make things all of the time that I would love to be able to print this easy also I want to print more pictures because I lost an entire year of pictures (happened to be part of the first year of my first born’s life). I wish I could print a few pics each month at home. Would love to win! Thanks!

  83. Amanda Jessup says:

Oh how I would love to have wireless printer. I bought a laptop a few months ago and printing has been such a pain. I am not a fan of electronic clutter myself. So this would be so handy dandy! Please pick me Random Number Generator! Please, please!

  84. I’ve been a fan of the HP Photosmart for a while already (I’ve had two of the wired ones) but man! would I love to go wireless. Right now I have a 10′ extension cord snaked across my bedroom from my bedside laptop table to my printer. Every once in a while one of the kids will trip over it and send the printer flying off the desk. I *definitely* need wireless.

  85. Wow. In need of a printer here. Please add my piddly little comment to your tens of thousands and I’ll just keep my fingers crossed till you pick a winner. ;-)

  86. My very elderly HP printer went to printer heaven last week. I would so love to have a new, WIRELESS, printer! HP rocks and so do you Sophie! Thanks!

  87. Lori in MN says:

I love all in one printers.

  88. This printer would make my life so much easier! I don’t have room for it by my desk- and my current printer isn’t even compatible with Vista- which is on my new computer! Complete my set for me! PLEASE!

  89. Our current printer barely works- it likes to eat paper! So I would love to win this printer. The scanner feature would also be great, since I don’t have one. Thank you!

  90. A pretty printer would brighten up my office and a wireless one would go just right with my upcoming laptop purchase. :-)

  91. I need this in the worst way. Im a good photographer with no printer (or scanner). Please make my year and let me win!

  92. Print…scan…copy…wireless…wow!
    Need I say more?

  93. Oh, how I need some printing action around here! My husband and I just moved back to the U.S., and we NEED THAT PRINTER!

  94. My home network can’t find the new laptop from work, and so I cannot currently print anything at home. Oh my would this be a fabulous addition. As well as I’d love a scanner at home too.

    Thanks for the give away!

  95. WOW ~ That sounds great! I desperately need a printer. And wireless is wonderful. Thanks!

  96. Melissa Ryan says:

I am enrolled in many online classes. I have a laptop, so I can check on those classes many times. However, I have a few teachers who require hard copies be turned in many times during the year. This printer would allow me to do more work from home and spend less time printing off page after page at the school library, where the hours are limited. Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  97. I would LOVE this printer. Dont have anything like that!!

  98. I sure could use (and would looooooove) this printer. I have way too many pics stuck on memory cards and a pretty miserable excuse for a printer that wouldn’t do them justice. Not to mention that this baby just might save someone – or something‘s life with a few less cords to get hopelessly tangled in.

I think I heard my computer meowing a couple days ago. But I couldn’t swear to it.

  99. I would love to win this printer! My mom asked for a printer for her birthday, so it would be awesome to be able to give her such a cool one!

  100. Oh, I could finally scan some of my old photos and copy things on my own instead of asking my hubby to copy at work!
