How Many Knocks Does It Take To Get You To Do Some Work?

Given that last week’s episode of “The Office” has made me giggle all week long, I’m more convinced than ever that it was an instant classic. And besides that, I feel like it’s given us so much to look forward to during the last couple of months of the season: Jim and Pam as new parents, Dwight and Angela (round two), Andy and Erin, Kevin and First Lunch, etc.

All righty – here we go:

1. “It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and here in Scranton that is a HUGE deal. It’s the closest that the Irish will ever get to Christmas.”

2. “What do we got here?” // “Mega desk.”

3. “Getting hooked on mega desk was my own fault. I don’t care about assigning blame. All I care about is mega desk. That is all I care about. Getting more mega desk.”

4. “The say that no man is an island. FALSE. I am an island, and this island is volcanic. And it’s about to erupt with the molten hot lava of strategy.”

5. “Whenever I’m sick it goes away in a few hours. Except once when I was in the hospital from age three to six.”

6. “Jo, I have an idea for suntan lotion soap.”

7. “Look at that picture that you drew. Nice job!”

8. “Let’s follow the chain of events: Jo likes Michael. Jo invites Michael to house. Jo doesn’t like Michael anymore.”

9. “I’m not surprised that Dwight’s using my baby to steal my desk. I’m a little surprised that it’s working.”

10. “You’ll probably feel better one you get some pants on.”

11. “Does her family owe your family something in terms of a past injustice?”

12. “Oh! Andy! I’m in my jammie jams!” // “That’s okay. I’m in my workie-works.”

13. “…if you’d like I can swing by your house so your baby can experience a strong male presence.”

14. “Drinks are on me!” (as Michael pulls out two different credit cards)

15. “They call it quad desk.”

All in all, this was nowhere near as funny as last week, but I guess Jo needed a send-off. And granted, the Jo character is charming, but she’s not particularly funny. So I guess it’s good she’s going back to Tallahassee. However, the fact that Andy and Dwight sang a short duet of “Cat’s In The Cradle” goes a long way with me. I’m trusting that next week will be better.

  1. The minute I heard the “I’m in my workie-works…” line I thought of you! I loved Michael’s “That’s sort of clearish”,too. :)

  2. Okay, I already spoiled the Idol results for some folks on twitter (oops!), so I’ll just say STINK to the last girl who went home. Well, not TO her, but stink that she had to go.

  3. Megadesk cracked me up!

  4. Lara Jane says:

Andy & Erin are the new Jim & Pam.

And yeah, I’m totally with Marla (poster 2) about Idol. I loved that girl! I’m not particularly happy about one boy who went home versus one who got to stay, either! Grrr!!! You got it WRONG, Murrica!

  5. BooMama, you are the one who got me hooked on The Office. I had never heard of it before (we didn’t have television–I got caught up on Netflix) and we *love* the show, but I’m always surprised how differently we see the episodes. Last week’s was okay, but only enough laughs for a half hour show, in my opinion. This one had us cracking up most of the episode, and I absolutely loved Jo and am sorry to see her go. Her “how many knocks does it take…?” was so great.
And I love Andy and Erin.
Thanks for giving us the heads up on this show!

  6. You got me hooked on The Office, too. Even though my husband had been watching it for months, already.

I haven’t stopped laughing about last week’s, especially the nursing-the-wrong-baby-in-their-sleep-deprived-stupor.

I think it is hard to top that one, but had this one not followed immediately after, it could easily stand on its own with the hilariousness.

I loved Jo. She brought a no-nonsense aura back to the office in her fantastic Southern flare, and I think she would have totally supported the Quad desk retaliation. That was genius!

  7. We were preempted for the SEC tournament. Auuuggghhh! I checked the DVR last night, found nothing, and thought maybe there wasn’t a new episode showing. You just confirmed my error. Stink.

  8. My DVR did not record it! UGH!

  9. I used to read your Office recap and not get it. But now that I watch the show-I can’t wait to see what your faves were.

You know on Tuesday night TBS airs The Office for 3 hours. And then one of our local stations airs it for an hour after that. I love Tuesdays!!

  10. I liked this episode and I love Jo because she so serious and crazy.

I loved the Irish Christmas line and I also liked when Kevin said “just because Jo doesn’t have a life doesn’t mean that we don’t have a life. Oscar has a life and I am pretty sure Ryan has a life.”

  11. LOVED the himym reference!!! Thats my other favorite show.

  12. I’m with you … I didn’t think this week was very funny. I don’t really like the Jo character. I’m hoping next week is better!! I loved last week’s episode but that’s mainly b/c I thought the baby parts were sweet. (The male lactation consultant and Jim’s response – hilarious.)

  13. the look on Andy’s face when Erin and her “foster brother” are cuddling on the couch was pretty classic. I agree though it didn’t even come close to last weeks episode, that was just too funny. Every time I think about Dwight rolling out of Jim and Pam’s bed it still makes me laugh out loud.

  14. I loved this week. although, Erin and the foster brother—-a bit creepy. can’t wait for next week. I’m an accountant.

  15. Mega desk! Love it

  16. I agree with you, not as funny, but the waiting to leave part…. that was pretty funny. And the two cards…. classic.

  17. This has nothing to do with The Office, but I hope you see this comment soon because…The Best (Cheese) Thing I Ever Ate is on. And of course I’m sitting here thinking of you. Much like when I slathered my bread with butter last night…you would have been proud. :)

  18. I’m glad Jo is leaving but I did like that she kept Michael in line.

And I LOVE reading your office quotes. I just watched the DVRed episode last night so I waited until now to read your recap. I laugh hysterically.

  19. workie works
    cats in the cradle
    I’m a little surprised it’s working. . .
Meridath’s just one day of the year can we have no fighting.
the foster brother (creepy and funny)

All in all a good episode, makes you want to watch next week, which is the point I guess :)

And, can I just throw out there, that I adore Andy!

  20. Andy Bernard just cracks me up every time.

  21. My husband and I just watched this last night and it was pretty funny. Not as good as Pam nursing the wrong baby, but still cute. Love your breakdown of the best quotes – I concur! Happy early St. Pat’s day!
