Okay. Here’s the low-down.
We’ll share our thoughts / observations / reactions in the comments. This is all in good fun, so let’s please be mindful that somebody’s mama or cousin or great-aunt Ethel could stop by and read what we say. In other words: let’s do our level best not to say anything hurtful. These girls are young and singing / dancing / performing their hearts out. Plus, if any one of them showed up at a pool or beach where I happened to be spending the day, I would cover myself with a blanket and run screaming for the indoors. These girls are darlin’.
Also: sometime around 9:45 or 9:50 (central), leave a comment with your prediction for who’s going to take the crown. Once the pageant is over, I’ll draw from all the correct predictions and send the winner a SPESHUL PAGEANT PRIZE.
I should probably point out that the prize is not a crown.
I know that’s going to be a disappointment to some of you, but I do hope you’ll participate in the festivities anyway.

“Make it happen!” These three simple words were spoken to my by a close friend, and I apply them to all aspects of my life. These words remind me that merely wishing for something to happen does not always bring success. It takes determination, initiative, and hard work to make those wishes and dreams become a reality.
What is the most valuable lesson you ever learned?
“Taking joy in life is a woman’s best cosmetic.” This quote by Rosalind Russell sums up one important lesson I have learned. A pessimistic or negative attitude can ruin an otherwise bright and beautiful woman, but a joyful personality brings out an inner beauty that never fades.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I received a great compliment on my last day of volunteering before Christmas holidays at First Friends, a respite center in Amory for people with Alzheimer’s. As I was saying my goodbyes, one kind man, Leon Sprayberry, told me that I lit up the room on days that I volunteered and that he would miss me very much over the holidays. This simple comment showed me how much volunteers mean to people in need and what an impact we make on their lives.
