Okay. Here’s the low-down.
We’ll share our thoughts / observations / reactions in the comments. This is all in good fun, so let’s please be mindful that somebody’s mama or cousin or great-aunt Ethel could stop by and read what we say. In other words: let’s do our level best not to say anything hurtful. These girls are young and singing / dancing / performing their hearts out. Plus, if any one of them showed up at a pool or beach where I happened to be spending the day, I would cover myself with a blanket and run screaming for the indoors. These girls are darlin’.
Also: sometime around 9:45 or 9:50 (central), leave a comment with your prediction for who’s going to take the crown. Once the pageant is over, I’ll draw from all the correct predictions and send the winner a SPESHUL PAGEANT PRIZE.
I should probably point out that the prize is not a crown.
I know that’s going to be a disappointment to some of you, but I do hope you’ll participate in the festivities anyway.
So. With all that being said, let’s enjoy the show. See y’all in the comments!
(Be sure to click on the play button in the bottom left hand corner to watch. If you click on the big play button in the center, the internet will whisk you away to the main livestream site. And we will miss you.)

@susan Thanks for being here!
Wow. My greatest compliment may have been a couple of years ago when I made really good lasagna. I need to step up my game.
MARY MARGERET..CLEARLY AFTER READING YOUR BIO THE ESTUTE JUDGES MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE YOU GO GIRL, YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN, AND WEAR WOMENS BEST COSMETIC JOY…
Sophie, this was great fun. Next year I think we need to do this for both Miss Texas and Miss Mississippi. I think our two states have a real good shot at Miss America. Loved all the fun and funny comments throughout the night. Happy Fourth of July everyone.
I missed the festivities tonight. And I am sad about it. :(
Post-production WLBT sidenote :
One of the highlights of my life was when I found out Maggie Wade’s real name is “Magnolia”.
To all those who participated: you have just made my day. It is Sunday afternoon and I have just read through all the comments. I am laughing so hard that my kids think I’ve lost my mind, my side hurts, and I’m crying … its the laughter trifecta! This should have been a reality show!
I hate to have missed this party. We have a good friend who was in the pageant (didn’t make top 10), and we were having a real party… but I would have loved to chime in here. BTW, one Laken was from our town, and Mary Margaret, the winner, is also from here. We had 3 of the 42 from our area.
(And, you were right, the opening costumes were leading women’s roles from movies.)
