All Dwight’s Heroes Are Table Tennis Players

Tonight’s episode of The Office made my heart break just a little bit. There was something so touching and sad about seeing Michael confronted with the harsh reality of different areas of his life: his job performance, his relationship with Jan, his perception of being “groomed” for the corporate office.

But to see him smile his way through it all, ever-loyal to Dunder-Mifflin, even shaking his big boss’ hand at the end of the episode – well, I just wanted to hug him. Two or three times.

Bless his heart.

But in true Office form, the writers still found a way to bring us the funny, even if there was a complete and total absence of Andy, and I’M SORRY, BUT WHERE WAS HE?

My favorite parts:

1) Kelly Kapur clarifying the difference between “talking trash” and “talking smack”
2) Pam and Kelly having a stand-off at the restroom door
3) “That’s what she said.”
4) More tomorrow – XOXO, Michael
5) Dwight and Mose’s ping pong match at the end of the episode

What surprised me the most about tonight’s episode was how protective I was of Michael, how mad I was at Jan for betraying his trust, and how, at the end of the day, I probably have some co-dependency issues because I just want for Michael to work out all this stuff and be happy and good at what he does and get real phone calls instead of the make-believe ones that Pam pretends to have written on Post-It notes.

I love this show.

See y’all in the comments.

Can You Smell The Trees And The Nature?

Tonight found Michael heading out into the wilderness while Jim held down the fort in the office.

And once again I would just like to say this epsiode NEEDED MORE ANDY.

RADDD-DATTT-DATTT-DA-DOO.

But I did actually laugh out loud a whole bunch this week, and you’d better believe that I won’t be deleting the episode from the DVR because of this whole writers’ strike business. I will be preserving every morsel of Office-y goodness while there is still goodness to be had.

And also: I really, really want some glasses like Dwight’s. Preferably with a light tint.

A few of my favorite moments:

1) Mr. A Knife
2) Michael using his pants leg as a kerchief
3) Michael’s surprise birthday tactics, especially with Oscar
4) Creed eating peach cobbler straight from the pan
5) “Now SKIP AROUND THE ROOM!”

And finally: “It’s like Broken Mountain.”

You Can Imagine Our Delight

Tonight after Alex went to bed D and I sat down to watch tonight’s CMA Awards on the DVR. Sister goes almost every year because of her job, so it’s always fun to watch the show and then talk to her about everything later.

Sister and I texted back and forth a little bit at the beginning of the awards – before I was actually watching – mainly because I wanted to know who was sitting near her so that I’d have a frame of reference for trying to spot her in the audience.

Never you mind that this was probably Sister’s fifteenth CMA Awards, and I have never, ever seen her on television. Not even a single time.

Well.

D and I were watching, fast forwarding through the commercials, and texting back and forth with Sister. And at some point I looked up from my phone as the Song of the Year winners were making their acceptance speeches, and OH MY WORD WOULD YOU LOOK WHAT I SAW ON THE TV?

cma.jpg

That’s Sister!

And her sweet friend Carrie on the left!

And I screamed when I saw them!

And then I made D pause the DVR so that I could snap their picture from many different angles because apparently I am COUNTRY COME TO TOWN.

(HEY MAW! SIS IS ON THE TV!)

(WHOOOO, DAWGIE!)

You know, it really doesn’t take much to just thrill us to pieces around here.

Dwight Brought Gasoline And Chunks Of Rubber

Now in all honesty tonight’s episode of The Office didn’t have near enough Andy and Angela for my taste. And I got a little nervous when Jim, Dwight and Michael ventured out of the office on a road trip, mainly because I just want for Jim to be BY PAM’S SIDE AT ALL TIMES.

I BREATHE EASIER THAT WAY, THANK YOU.

Not a whole lot happened to move this season’s plot forward – aside from the reappearance of Karen – and I found myself really missing Darryl and Kelly. However, there were several laugh out loud moments, which should really come as no surprise because it is, after all, The Office.

My favorites tonight:

1) Phyllis hitting an endless amount of buttons on the microwave and then complaining that the other microwave smelled like popcorn
2) The Finer Things Club
3) Dwight’s plan to hit the security guard in the eye with jumbo chalk
4) Stanley (OH MY WORD. STANLEY.)
5) Dwight in the backseat. I will not elaborate.

Can’t wait to read yours in the comments. Y’all always bring up stuff I either forgot about or just didn’t notice the first time around, and oh, the joy of knowing that the internets consistently enhance my TV viewing and propel me to staggering new heights of comedic appreciation.

The wide world interweb, it is a wonder.

Limitless Paper In A Paperless World

Tonight’s episode of “The Office” tonight was all-around hilarious, from Michael making his directorial debut to Dwight’s Second Second Life to Darrell composing a theme song (and re-mix!) to Phyllis going to the mall in the hopes of recruiting Sue Grafton for the Dunder-Mifflin commercial.

A few of my favorite moments:

“Who let the ‘Nard Dog out?”
“People person’s paper people”
“Call Indian Kelly for your business paper needs”
“That would be quite a coop!”
“Break me off a piece of that Chrysler car / football cream / Grey Poupon / Fancy Feast!”

And don’t even get me started about Jim protectively wrapping his arm around Pam at Poor Richard’s.

But the thing that made me laugh the most? The part of the commercial where Dwight hands Phyllis a piece of paper that says, “You have a son, and it’s me.”

Gold.

And Dwight and Angela? Totally on the path to reconciliation.

Agrotourism, Trip Advisor, And A Whole Lot Of Beets

This week’s episode of “The Office” (sorry. I’m a little late with the post.) was perhaps the sweetest episode yet. You can pretty much take your pick of tender (though sometimes awkward) moments: Dwight crying in his room, Pam and Jim being sensitive to Dwight’s broken heart, Jim consoling Dwight on the stairwell, Jim walking in the office and giving Pam a big kiss, and Jan telling Michael that he’s a good man, just to name a few. Or to name five, as it were.

But in true “Office” form, there was still plenty of funny to go around. Some of my favorites:

1. Kelly Kapur making the “Whatever, Big L” gesture at Darrell
2. Andy “casually” standing at Pam’s desk with his feet about five feet apart
3. Jan’s glare at the camera when she was picking up Michael from his second job
4. Andy wrangling Garbage the cat for Angela
5. Creed’s strategy for getting rid of debt

And I don’t know why, but Ryan’s cheesy beard and bright-colored shirts CRACK ME UP.

Feel free to share your favorite moments in the comments.

And for what it’s worth: if Jim kissing Pam didn’t make you at least think about saying “AWWWW,” then clearly you have a heart of stone.
